Genius Sports Ltd. is about to lend an “official” hand to a major prediction market player, as part of a new partnership the data and tech firm has formed with Kalshi.
- Kalshi has partnered with Genius Sports to use official sports data, media, marketing, and integrity services for its prediction markets.
- The deal will provide real-time official soccer data to improve the accuracy, transparency, and settlement of sports prediction contracts.
- The partnership reflects the demand for official data as prediction markets expand, despite ongoing legal challenges to sports event contracts in the U.S.
Genius (which owns Covers) announced Wednesday that it had struck a deal with Kalshi to provide the exchange with official data, marketing, media, and integrity services for its sports prediction markets.
“This partnership with Kalshi demonstrates how we can provide the essential technology layer that enables accurate and transparent sports markets,” said Sean Conroy, executive vice president of rights and partnerships at Genius, in a press release. “As this category grows, we believe Genius Sports will play a central role in shaping its development while helping protect the integrity of sports.”
Among other things, Genius said it will furnish Kalshi “with the highest quality, real-time data across its full soccer portfolio,” including for the English Premier League and Serie A.
“By using verified official data as a consistent source of truth to settle sports prediction market contracts, the agreement is designed to enhance transparency while reducing reliance on unofficial or delayed data sources,” the company said in a release.
Data dealing
Genius added that Kalshi will participate in its “established information-sharing processes, restricting certain market types and enhancing visibility,” as well as benefit from Genius’ marketing and media services and properties.
The announcement highlights the appetite for “official” data, which prediction market operators such as Kalshi can use to settle the outcome of sports event contracts traded on their exchange.
While the legality of those sports-related event contracts is being challenged in courtrooms all over the U.S., they are, at least for now, widely available and accessible across the country.

And Genius, a data and technology company that recently acquired Covers and other media properties, views the fast-growing business of prediction markets as an opportunity for itself, and has recently struck similar partnerships.
Wednesday's announcement now means Genius has strong business ties to the largest prediction market operators in the U.S., although there is a growing list of contenders.
“As the prediction market ecosystem continues to expand at a rapid pace, the use of official data and integrity services is more important than ever,” said Adam Barrick, head of sports partnerships at Kalshi, in Wednesday's release. “We’re proud to partner with Genius Sports, with their proven track record in providing the highest quality sports data and working alongside leagues to protect the transparency of sporting competitions.”
