DraftKings officially debuted its online sports betting product in Puerto Rico on Monday.

Key Takeaways

  • DraftKings’ online sportsbook is available to Puerto Rico residents only.

  • Local customers must sign up at the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino.

  • DraftKings is operating in 26 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., Ontario, and Puerto Rico.

The Boston-based sportsbook announced residents in the U.S. territory can access DraftKings after registering in person at the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino.

“Puerto Rico has a passionate sports community, and launching our online sportsbook allows us to meet fans where they are,” said Gregory Karamitis, DraftKings executive vice president and general manager of sports. “With retail already live at Foxwoods El San Juan Casino, mobile represents the next step in expanding the DraftKings experience across the island - giving eligible local customers a seamless, exciting, and responsible way to engage with sports.”

DraftKings launched its retail operation at Foxwoods El San Juan in November. Once local customers complete the on-site sign-up process, they’ll be able to place bets on the operator’s sportsbook anywhere in Puerto Rico.

Territory's gaming outlook

However, visitors to the Caribbean Island will not have access to the online sportsbook. They will only be able to place bets through DraftKings in person at the casino.

Puerto Rico, which governs itself, legalized sports betting in 2019, shortly after PASPA was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, allowing states and territiories to determine if they wanted to allow sports and online casino wagering.

A few years later, BetMGM and Caesars were the first sports betting operators to operate Puerto Rico sports betting through casino partnerships. FanDuel launched on the island through a mobile and retail partnership with CAGE Puerto Rico last month, giving local residents four major U.S.-based sportsbook options to place online wagers.

Online casinos are not legal in Puerto Rico.

Land, language expansions

DraftKings is the second market-share leader in the U.S. behind FanDuel. It has expanded its sports betting product into 26 U.S. states, as well as Washington, D.C., and Ontario, Canada.

A few months before going live in Puerto Rico, DraftKings released a Spanish-language version for its online platforms. Spanish is the predominant of two official languages in Puerto Rico.

“By bringing Spanish-language functionality to our best-in-class product, we’re creating a more intuitive experience for our customers and expanding our total addressable market,” DraftKings chief product officer Corey Gottlieb said in November 2025. “This is consistent with our commitment to delivering the most authentic, personalized product for everyone.”
