The UEFA Euro 2024 soccer tournament is underway and one bettor has placed a $50,000 futures wager on Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo to win the coveted Golden Boot award.
This futures ticket would pay $550,000 if Ronaldo can duplicate his goal production from 2020.

The Golden Boot is awarded to the player who records the most goals during this month-long European soccer tournament. A total of 24 teams are competing, containing four teams within each of the six groups.
Ronaldo and Portugal betting odds
Odds have grown shorter for Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot since this brazen bettor staked a $50,000 wager on him to win the award. The current Golden Boot odds available for Ronaldo within Caesars Sportsbook’s futures market are set at +850 odds, down from +1,100 when the bet was placed.
The last time the UEFA Euro tournament was played in 2020, Ronaldo took home his first Golden Boot award, scoring five goals for Portugal in 360 minutes of action.
Portugal is currently +650 to win the Euro 2024 tournament at Caesars. Only England (+375), France (+400), and Germany (+550) have shorter odds in the tournament winner futures market.
Portugal was the defending champion in 2016, but in 2020, despite Ronaldo’s best efforts, they were eliminated by Belgium in the round of 16. This is encouraging for the $50,000 bettor, since the Golden Boot is only won by the player who scores the most goals. No subjectivity is used to determine the winner.

Betting outlook
It’s important to note that no player in the Euro tournament has ever gone back-to-back. However, in nine UEFA Euro qualifying matches played in 2023-24, Ronaldo has scored 10 goals in just nine matches.
In 2020, during his Golden Boot-winning campaign, Portugal’s superstar forward recorded 11 goals in eight matches. He’s just shy of matching the goal-scoring pace he set four years ago, which is encouraging for a bet of this magnitude.
Portugal is competing in Group F against Turkey, Georgia, and Czechia. They should be able to score goals at a fairly high rate, with the 39-year-old Ronaldo leading the charge on the pitch.
Only Kylian Mbappe of France (+450) and Englishman Harry Kane (+550) have shorter odds to win the UEFA Euro 2024 Golden Boot award at Caesars. The odds grow much longer after Ronaldo at +850, starting with Romelu Lukaku of Belgium at +1,300.
