With exactly one week until the FIFA World Cup gets underway, BetMGM Sportsbook announced it will award $500,000 in bonus bets for every U.S. goal scored during the event.
Key Takeaways
- Bonus bets will be split among everyone who placed a $5 pregame bet.
- The promotion will be active as long as the USMNT is alive in the tournament.
- The U.S. scored three goals at the 2022 World Cup, which would’ve resulted in $1.5 million in bonus bets.
BetMGM titled its per-goal promotion the Goal Rush Grand Prize. The special offer will see $500,000 in bonus bets distributed not for every match in which the U.S. men's national team scores, but for every goal scored.
Customers will be deemed eligible if they place a pregame qualifying wager of at least $5. Bonus bet prize pools will be split evenly between all customers entered in the promotion.
“BetMGM is built around delivering legendary moments, and there is no bigger stage in soccer than the World's Game,” said Matt Prevost, chief revenue officer at BetMGM. “We're giving our players the opportunity to connect directly to the action with every goal scored by Team USA.”
Bonus bets cannot be withdrawn and must be used in seven days. The offer is only for American customers.
The deal works in concert with BetMGM’s 2-Up Early Payout, which allows customers to receive full payouts whenever the team they picked to win a given match takes a two-goal lead. All pregame, single-line bets will be eligible for this deal during the World Cup. This offer is not available in Nevada, Ontario, Pennsylvania, or Puerto Rico.
BetMGM is available in more than 30 markets and offers both an online and retail sportsbook. The World Cup betting menu is already live ahead of next week’s kickoff.

World Cup bonus offers
The USMNT scored three goals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The first was by Timothy Weah in a 1-1 draw against Wales to begin the group stage. The U.S. played a goalless draw against England a few days later before Christian Pulisic turned in a first-half goal against Iran to send the Red, White, and Blue into the knockouts.
Haji Wright scored his only goal of the competition late against the Netherlands, but the Americans were sent packing with a 3-1 loss.
Eligible BetMGM bettors would’ve shared a $1.5-million consolation prize in the form of bonus bets.
BetMGM is stocking up for the tournament with additional offers beyond the Goal Rush Grand Prize. Former goalkeeper Tim Howard’s Penalty Kick Shootout is a daily free-to-play game that will be available for customers as of June 11. BetMGM Casino is also expanding its portfolio with two new games featuring Howard, titled Tim Howard Goalie Gold X Up and Tim Howard's Goal Line - Fortune Pick.
A collaboration with Marriott Bonvoy will also send 10 winners and one guest each to the Big Apple for Sports Illustrated’s Beyond the Pitch Party. Winners will receive round-trip travel to New York City or $1,000 in travel funds, a three-night stay at Moxy Lower East Side, dinner at L’Artusi Supper Club, and VIP access to the party, which will feature live performances from 50 Cent and Diplo.
World Cup odds
As the tournament draws tantalizingly close, BetMGM’s World Cup odds have France and Spain in pole position at +450 each. England is the closest challenger at +650, followed by defending champion Argentina and nemesis Brazil, both at +800.
Portugal (+900) is the only other team with odds shorter than +1,000. Germany (+1,400), the Netherlands (+2,000), and Norway (+2,800) are the next-closest competitors.
