Win pick: Ultimate Love

Ultimate Love has raced three times and has yet to be beaten, although the quality of competition she saw at Laurel is somewhat suspect.

Still, a horse can only beat those rivals put in front of it, and Ultimate Love has blown away her foes each time, suggesting she could have more to offer if tested under new pilot John Velazquez.

Place pick: Final Accord

Final Accord gets a tepid nod for second over Ground Support, who wired the Grade III Miss Grillo — historically the most productive prep for this race — when last seen.

Final Accord is a perfect 2-for-2 to start her career, including a Grade III win, though she has yet to run past six furlongs. However, her breeding suggests Friday's eight-furlong trip is in her wheelhouse, as does her late-running style. It's also encouraging to see Jose Ortiz take over the ride.

Show pick: Ground Support

Ground Support outran 100-1 odds at Kentucky Downs at first asking before proving her class in the Miss Grillo. She'll be the one they have to come and get.

8 Ted Noffey 4-5 -120 -120

Odds as of 10-31.

Win pick: Ted Noffey

It's not clever, but it's hard to see past Ted Noffey as the most likely winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Ted Noffey passed the distance test with flying colors in the Breeders' Futurity Stakes at Keeneland last time out, adding another highly-rated Grade I win to his resume to go along with his Hopeful romp at Saratoga two-back.

Trainer Todd Pletcher has won this race four times overall, the most recent coming with Breeders' Cup Classic favorite Fierceness in 2023, and Velazquez was aboard for two of those triumphs (2010 and 2023).

Place pick: Brant

Trainer Bob Baffert will try for his second straight Juvenile and seventh overall with $3 million purchase Brant.

The son of Gun Runner is off to a 2-for-2 start with some flashy speed figures to his name, but he'll be making his route debut in this demanding spot.

If Ted Noffey falters, Brant is most likely to take advantage under Flavien Prat.

Show pick: Intrepido

Intrepido has tuned up for this race with some slow recent works, but I'm willing to overlook them based on his last-out win in the American Pharaoh.

Best bet: $8 trifecta 7,8/7,8/1, $2 trifecta 7,8/1/7,8 ($20)
