November 19, 2013 – There a 5 games on the NBA schedule tonight. Let’s go through the matchups. Picks in bold.
7pm – Minnesota -4.5 at Washington, over/under 206.5
F Kevin Love is clearly the leader of the 7-4 Timberwolves averaging 26.8points and 13.6 rebounds. As long as he gets some help from the supporting cast, Minnesota is tough to beat.
The 2-7 Wizards have a solid backcourt with John Wall and Bradley Beal, however, Wall hasn’t gotten fully on track yet this season. T’Wolves should win easily.
7:30pm – New York +3.5 at Detroit, over/under 198.5
Both team enter at 3-6. Knick F Carmelo Anthony is questioning his teams effort. Knick fans are questioning Anthony’s ability to lead a contending team. Coach Mike Woodson is also getting some heat.
Detroit’s inside game featuring Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe will cause problems for the Knicks, minus C Tyson Chandler. I don’t love the Knicks in this spot, but getting a few points is key.
7:30pm – Atlanta at Miami -9.5, over/under 205.5
Atlanta come in at a respectable 6-4 after winning it’s last two. F Paul Millsap broke out of a little funk with 14 points and 13 rebounds in Saturday’s win over the Knicks.
Miami, 7-3, is looking for it’s 4th straight win. During this mini winning streak, F LeBron James is averaging 34 points. G Ray Allen may not play due to the flu. They won’t necessarily need him.
8pm – Boston at Houston -10.5, over/under 205
Boston, 4-7, is hoping to avoid it’s 4th loss in a row. With F Jeff Green struggling, the Celtics are in need of production elsewhere. Don’t know where they’ll get it.
The Rockets, 7-4, have G James Harden relatively healthy, G Jeremy Lin playing well and C Dwight Howard making some free throws. They should score a lot tonight and take this game over the point total.
10pm – Phoenix at Sacramento, over/under 193.5
The 2-7 Kings host the first game of this home and home set. C DeMarcus Cousins leads the team in scoring at 21.2 ppg. Too bad he doesn’t get much help as Sacramento averages only 93 as a team.
Phoenix, 5-4, plays good defense for coach Jeff Hornacek and G Eric Bledsoe averages 204 ppg and 6,8 assists. I think the Suns win in a low scoring game here.

Tonight's TNT Doubleheader Games
November 21, 2013 – Thursday night means the TNT doubleheader in the NBA. Let’s analyze. Picks in bold.
8pm – L.A. Clippers at Oklahoma City -5.5, over/under 212.5
G Chris Paul is consistently recording double-doubles for the Clippers as they have improved to 8-4 on the year. The Clips will be without controversial Matt Barnes as he is out with an eye injury. F Blake Griffin is averaging a double-double himself with 22.7 ppg and 10.8 rpg. L.A. won 102-98 last night at Minnesota.
The Thunder enter tonight with a 7-3 mark and are 4-0 at home. They beat Denver at home on Monday by the score of 115-113. No doubt G Russell Westbrook and F Kevin Durant will want to avenge last weeks loss to the Clippers in L.A..
I think the Thunder extend their home unbeaten streak here, but I like the under better as I think both teams will try to step up their defense in this battle of usually offensive minded teams.
10:30pm – Chicago -1 at Denver, over/under 199.5
The Bulls have won 5 in a row and are now 6-3 after a slow start to the season. Tonight’s game in Denver marks the start of their annual circus road trip. Hopefully, for Chicago, the road will be better to them going forward as they have stumbled to a 1-3 start away from the United Center. No Jimmy Butler for the Bulls as he will miss the road trip with a sprained toe.
Denver, 4-6, has gotten off to a slow start themselves, but they have won their last 3 at home after dropping their first 2. They were 38-3 at home last season. Look for G Ty Lawson to continue his solid play as he is averaging 22 points and 8.6 assists to lead the Nuggets.
This will be a tough game for Chicago and the only way they win, I believe, is to stop Denver from getting out and running. The Bulls are only allowing 89 ppg, so I think they will keep the Nuggets in check. The total stays under 200.

November 25, 2013 – Four early games on the docket tonight in the NBA. Let’s take a look at them. Picks in bold.
7pm – Boston at Charlotte -3.5, over/under 185.5
The streaky Celtics are 5-10 and coming into tonight off a win Saturday against Atlanta. G Jordan Crawford was key in the victory.
The Bobcats enter at an even 7-7 and are fresh off a victory over Milwaukee on Saturday. C Al Jefferson had 19 points in the win and is getting healthy after missing time earlier with an ankle injury.
Boston has won 3 of their 5 games on the road, but Charlotte will be ready and will pick up win number 8.
7pm – Minnesota +7 at Indiana, over/under 193.5
The Timberwolves (8-7) appear ready to become a Western Conference contender, but they must improve their unimpressive road record, 2-5, if they are to do so. F Kevin Love is playing well with averages of 24.9 points and 13.6 rebounds.
The 12-1 Pacers are the team to beat right now and F Paul George is emerging as a star in the league. Defensively, Indiana allows a league low 87.6 points per game.
I think Love and company play well enough to keep it within the spread.
7:30pm – Milwaukee at Detroit -7.5 over/under 191
The Bucks (2-10) have lost 8 in a row. To be fair, Milwaukee has been hit terribly hard by injuries. Saturday’s home loss to Charlotte was so bad it had coach Larry Drew apologizing to the fans.
The 5-8 Pistons are coming off a win yesterday in Brooklyn. F Greg Monroe continues to rack up double-doubles and now has 7 on the season.
Looks like Detroit should handle the depleted Bucks relatively easily.
7:30pm – Phoenix at Miami -12 over/under 201
The Suns opened their Florida swing in fine fashion with a win at Orlando last night to improve to 7-6. They’ll have nothing to lose as they face the two time defending champs tonight.
The 10-3 Heat have won 9 of their last 10. F LeBron James continues to dominate and his accuracy is astonishing as he is shooting almost 60%.
I think Miami picks up the pace against a tired Phoenix squad. Too big of a spread, but the over looks good.

November 26, 2013 – Four games on the NBA schedule tonight. Here are my picks in bold.
7pm – Brooklyn at Toronto -7 over/under 190
Brooklyn comes in at 3-10 after making a splash in the offseason with acquisitions. So far G Paul Pierce and F Kevin Garnett have not been the saviors they were expected to be. Rookie coach Jason Kidd is also dealing with an injury riddled roster. G Deron Williams is out.
The 6-7 Raptors lead the Atlantic Division. F Rudy happy may not be putting up spectacular numbers, but he is having a positive impact, especially on G DeMar DeRozan who is averaging 21.2 ppg.
With the Nets less than 100%, I like the Raptors to win at home and improve to .500.
7pm – L.A. Lakers+4.5 at Washington over/under 197.5
Still no Kobe Bryant for the 7-7 Lakers, but they have won three straight entering tonight’s contest. This is the first of 3 road games in 4 nights for the Lakers.
The Wizards are only 5-8, but they have won 3 of 4 games themselves. G John Wall is playing well scoring 30+ in the last two games. F Marcin Gortat has also been effective pulling down 17 rebounds in a win against the Knicks on Saturday.
I think the Lakers will fight hard for this win trying to start their 3 of 4 stretch out on a positive note.
7:30pm – Orlando at Atlanta -7.5 over/under 199
The Magic are 4-9 on the season and 0-5 on the road. Leading scorer G Arron Afflalo has help now with F Tobias Harris back in the rotation.
The Hawks (8-6) lost to the Celtics on Saturday and will look to return to the win column tonight. F Kyle Korver looks to make a 3-pointer in his 88th consecutive game. The NBA record is 89 set by Dana Barros.
I think Atlanta takes advantage of Orlando’s road woes and their playing the second night of a back to back situation.
8pm – Golden State at New Orleans +2.5 over/under 204.5
The Warriors have dropped to 8-6 after losing 3 in a row. Injuries to Iguodala, Douglas and Curry have affected the depth and rotation for Golden State. Curry is expected to play tonight, C Andrew Bogut will not. Bogut will be serving a 1 game suspension.
The Pelicans lost to San Antonio last night to fall to 6-7. F Anthony Davis is averaging just under 20 points per game as well as more than 10 rebounds per contest.
New Orleans should be able to win at home against a less than whole Golden State squad.

November 27, 2013 – Let’s look at the five 7pm games on tonight’s NHL card. Picks in bold.
7pm – Montreal -170 at Buffalo over/under 5
Buffalo is simply a bad team whether they are coached by Ron Rolston or Ted Nolan. I was not impressed with the Canadiens early in the season, but they have come around to play well and score some quality wins lately. Look for LW Max Pacioretty to produce as he has been playing well and is also the focus of trade rumors. Habs win
7pm – Carolina +125 at New Jersey over/under 5
Both teams have identical records (9-10-5) but I like Carolina with G Cam Ward back in the nets better than G Martin Brodeur in this spot. Take the Hurricanes for a decent price here.
7pm – Winnipeg+115 at N.Y. Islanders over/under 5.5
The Islanders have dropped 3 in a row and 8 0f ten overall. The Jets snapped a 4 game skid with a win over New Jersey on Monday. Winnipeg has hope and they will take their second win in a row on the road.
7pm – Ottawa at Washington -135 over/under 5.5
The Capitals have RW Alex Ovechkin and G Braden Holtby which is much more than the visiting Senators have. Add the fact that Ottawa has lost 4 of 5 makes me believe Washington wins tonight at home.
7pm – Nashville at Columbus over/under 5
Blue Jacket G Sergei Bobrovsky just recorded his first shutout on Monday and I expect he’ll be able to keep the Predators in check. Nashville has not given up a power play goal in it’s last 5 games. Take the under.

December 18, 2013 – A dozen NBA games tonight, here are predictions for all of them. Picks in bold.
7pm – Indiana +4 at Miami over/under 190
At the time of this post, the status of Heat F LeBron James is uncertain. I am going to assume he won’t play. In this case, the Pacers will most likely be favored. If James plays, Miami will be the favorite. Take the Pacers either way.
7pm – Utah at Orlando -3.5 over/under 197
Both teams sport losing records and feature many young players. Utah lost Monday at Miami and will look to split their Florida swing. Orlando opens up a 6 game home stand here. The Magic take advantage of the home court.
7pm – Charlotte +5.5 at Toronto over/under 191.5
The Bobcats are hanging around with solid defensive play. The Raptors continue to be a scrappy team even with the roster turnover. Toronto G Kyle Lowry might be playing his final games for the team as trade rumors swirl. Close game will see the Bobcats cover.
7:30pm – Sacramento at Atlanta -7.5 over/under 204.5
The Kings may not have F Rudy happy who has a sore knee. Not good news for a struggling team that needs all the help they can get. The Hawks inside duo of C Al Horford and F Paul Milsap will too much for Sacto’s big man C Demarcus Cousins.
7:30pm – Detroit at Boston -1 over/under 194.5
The Pistons shocked the Pacers in Indiana on Monday winning 101-96. The Celtics are playing well, too, winning 8 of 12 including a victory over Minnesota on Monday. Close game which the home team C’s will take.
7:30pm – Washington +5 at Brooklyn over/under 196
The Wizards rode G Bradley Beal’s big game and late basket to defeat New York on Monday. The Nets were on fire from 3-point land in Monday’s big win over Philly. Look for them to cool off and for Washington to ride the momentum of their come from behind win against the Knicks.
8pm – New York -2 at Milwaukee over/under 186.5
Speaking of the Knicks, coach Mike Woodson might be coaching his final games for them after mismanaging the end of the game Monday. The Bucks own a pathetic 2-10 mark at home and as bad as New York is, F Carmelo Anthony and company should be able to win here.
8pm – Portland +1.5 at Minnesota over/under 213
The Blazers continue to impress as G Damian Lillard’s last second 3 pointer beat the Cavs last night in Cleveland. The T’Wolves are not playing up to expectations even as F Kevin Love is playing well. Poertland’s Lillard and F LaMarcus Aldridge will be too much for Minnesota.
8:30pm – Memphis at Dallas -9.5 over/under 194
The Grizzlies fell to the L.A. Lakers last night and have lost 4 in a row overall. The Mavericks now have Brandan Wright back in the lineup and he had 19 in his season debut Saturday. With C Marc Gasol and G Mike Conley out for Memphis, wins will be tough to come by.
9pm – San Antonio at Phoenix +2.5 over/under 203
The Spurs will be without G Tony Parker who is nursing a bruised shin. The Suns have won 5 in a row and G’s Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic form a top backcourt duo. Look for the surprising Suns to continue their winning ways.
9:30pm – Chicago at Houston -6.5 over/under 191.5
The Bulls will definitely be without G Derrick Rose, but the Rockets may be without G James Harden who sprained his ankle Sunday against the Kings. Even without Harden, the Rockets are a very potent offensive team, especially at home and I see the total set relatively low. I think it will go above the number.
10:30pm – New Orleans at L.A. Clippers over/under 205.5
The Pelicans without F Anthony Davis will have a real tough time beating quality teams on the road. The Clippers put up 115 points against the Spurs in Monday’s win. They should at least match that against an undermanned New Orleans squad.

December 19, 2013 – Thursday’s NBA on TNT doubleheader gives us a couple of decent matchups. Picks in bold.
8pm – Chicago at Oklahoma City -13 over/under 192
Injuries have hit the Bulls hard and without their start G Derrick Rose there hasn’t been much to cheer about so far this season. Losers of 12 of their last 15, Chicago is just trying to gain some respectability.
The Thunder have no such issues. Winners of 7 straight, OKC is led by the all-star tandem of F Kevin Durant and G Russell Westbrook. Durant lead the league in scoring and Westbrook averages 21 points, 6.7 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Oklahoma City is rolling and a date at home against a reeling Bulls squad should be entertaining for the Thunder faithful. Can’t see Chicago winning here but at 13 points they may cover. I like the over better as OKC should be able to reach triple digits and then some on their home court.
10:30pm – San Antonio at Golden State -3 over/under 202
The Spurs had a nice win last night defeating Phoenix 108-101 last night without G Tony Parker. Parker will be out again tonight. San Antonio beat Golden State earlier in the season 76-74 at home.
The Warriors got G Andre Iguodala back Tuesday after missing 12 games due to injury. The win against New Orleans moved them 14-12 on the season.
Golden State is in good position to win catching the Spurs on the second game of a back to back situation and with no Tony Parker. Laying 3 points should be OK here.
