Ive been looking at so many angles on this game. I truly believe that if the colts o and d lines can hold their own the colts win in spite of some of the edges the bears have, PM and the running backs and receivers will have their way if they get time. so many have pointed out what will happen if chi becomes one dimensional.
i dont think a team ever won the super bowl that didnt cover all the way through the playoffs so that favors indy. or maybe that i unloaded all that was left of my bankroll on indy ml and some on the over(do not try this at home kids!, i make a good living and its play money after everything is covered, and im done after SB till sept). or maybe its because 3 men at the heighth of glory recognized that God made it possible for them and humbled themselves(which BTW if youre not religious is irrelevent but not offensive).
BUT I WILL BET THE COLTS FOR ONE OVERWHELMING REASON........MY WIFE TOLD ME TO.
She said after the games while I was semiconscious from food poisoning,"who are you going to bet on for the superbowl honey" and i said i didnt know yet and she said that," Rex Grossman looks funny and throws a bad ball while Peyton Manning is sweet and loves God and his passes look great and if you want me to throw a SB party here youll bet on the Peyton Manning team"  Sounds like solid reasoning to all married men out there.Colts ML large from SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED

Hey Guys,  I've been reading these threads most of the season and appreciate the insight. I've won and lost but overall made some thanks Scorpio, Big Daddy, Irish Eyes, Col Jim, etal.
Enough sentiment.........I can't see any way that Grossman can take the Bears over the top. I think that is the key to this game. The Bears have won in spite of him NOT because of him. He had an error free game last week which is out of character for him. Manning is on a mission and he will do anything to pull this game off (see Elway SB XXXII) and will them to win BIG. No more excuses. I like Peyton and Co. BIG BIG BIG and the OVER. Colts 35 Bears 24

Bears are starting to look public to me.  Guess the people are starting to love the underdogs, they have been hot this year. Anything below 7 and I will pounce on the Colts.

Think the COLTS will win but no sure if they will cover...  Peyton doesn't seem to like natural turf  and/or playing our doors...  Also get a feeling this maybe an under game...  as the bears will look to control the clock with Jones/Benson combo...  keeping ball out of peytons hand.. Remember.. natural turf tends to slow things down just abit.....  Same with the colts to try to exploit the middle of Chi D with Addai/Rhodes..  Something the Saints should have done last week with Duece...  Just a feeling.. still doing research...  will get back...

Here's my final call. Forget all the talks about defense & running games etc.

    PEYTON MANNING

#18 6'5" - laser-rocket arm. This guy is without a doubt the best QB in the game. He's the smartest, most accurate QB in football. He's been overshadowed by a Pats dynasty the last few years. Down 21-3, he led the biggest comeback in Conference championship history against the top team in the game over the last 5 years. He gets his this time, it's that simple. I'm going to lay whatever the number is on gameday and put my money on this guy. I would rather come here post game and say I lost my cash betting on the best QB perhaps in history when all is said & done than put my money on Rex Grossman. He will not lose here, and I anticipate a double digit victory. The guy has earned a wager in this spot. Lay the points. GLA.

Let's hope the Bears keep feeling that disrespect.........that seems to really motivate this team........Sports Illustated has a full front cover on Peyton......and just the top corner is given to the Bears game.......Keep disrespecting those Bears I say............and by the way..........the jinx is in full effect.......Peyton on the cover this week.......Saints before that........Garcia before that.........LOL LOL.....no way Peyton can win now.........LOL LOL

bears went over on every win except 2......

    jets 10-0
    packers 26-0

    every loss was in under.................................................................

    using this logic.......

    if bears win then over
    if bears lose then under
    if bears shutout then under...........

well we know colts are not getting shutout............ not with vinitieri........

if the bears get into a shootout and it goes to over... most likely the colts would win that type of game
if the bears run the clock, and shut down the colts............. then you would have to say under...........
so over colts win, or under bears win..........

THIS IS JUST A TREND I FOUND LOL.....

me personally......... i think 48.5 is WAY TOO HIGH...................

i can't see this game going over 31-17......... or being 27-24 either way.......

me personally i think the COLTS are going to win by more than 7.............. but i think the bears are going to play a ball control/field position game....... and run out of time to score.........

i think Indy wins similiar to how they beat THE RAVENS.......... but give one more TD to each side...............

    something like 26-14............. or 27-17

    just my opinion..........

Interesting points my friend........but I still like the over..............Manning will play well........the Bears have the ability to run the ball very well.........and Indy doesn't stop the run all that well away from home........look at the stats over the whole year and you'll see what I mean.........plus they don't play very well historically in the sunshine state!!!!  Jacksonville and Miami always play them well down there and have beat them down there  a number of times over last five years if I am correct.........I like the Bears with the points because they have a chip on thier shoulder...........most people don't expect them to win......they think Peyton gets off the shnide!!!!!!  But Peyton and the Colts are the ones who will be playing under more pressure to win this game if you ask me.........the Colts had everything go their way in the second half of that game last week.............will it happen again........on the road where they are 4-4 this year????? I "bet" not!!!!  But if they do pull it out.......which is VERY possible.......I think it will be similar to how they did it against the Pats......a lot of skill, a little luck(Wayne fumbles......oh, no, he got it back) and a dash of destiny..........

It will be a great game to watch though........for the first time in a few years in my opinion........

Irisheyes - I said PERHAPS when all is said & done. He still has many years left if he stays healthy.
Face it, the guy will own the record book, and if he wins a SB or two he will be mentioned in the same breath as Montana. Not yet, but maybe one day.  Montana / Rice    Manning / Harrison.

And while I'm at it, the Colts aren't getting much respect here either. People are still questioning their ability to stop the run after 3 weeks of playoff football. If they truly couldn't stop the run don't you think the Patriots would have ponded it in the second half last week? They didn't because of Manning & the offense's ability to put up points. #1 & #2 defenses in the AFC sent home by the Colts.

........and they gave up 34 points and still won the game...........purely because it was at home........that comeback tidalwave of emotion would have never materialized on the road........good luck though bud.........You would have a hell of an off season with a Super Bowl........7-1 ticket winner...........plus all the cash from last week multiplied by a Colts win!!!!!  I wish I had my team in the big dance with all that riding on it.............GL.......you will be having more fun than me next Sunday I'm sure!!! bears only gave up 17 to brady in foxborough, in my book that makes chicago's d at least twice as good as indy's. offense, different story, however, with the colts "steller" special teams, chicago might see a lot of short fields and benson and tj really clicking right now. i would dare to say if mike brown wasn't injured, bears would be 2-3 point dogs tops.

And the Colts held the Pats to 20 in Foxboro. But they scored 27 & the Bears scored 13.
So I guess that makes the Colts offense twice as good as the Bears?
    Sounds pretty ridiculous, huh?

i would say the colts offense is twice as potentially powerful as the bears offense, without a doubt.

    HUNTED 466...

Thank you so much for your kind comments....I am glad my long-winded write-ups and X's and O's evaluations has helped your pocketbook...As Colonel Jim posted last week, I liked the Colts -3, the overs on both games (though I rarely "officially pick" or play them) and rolled with the Saints. If you lost on the latter, Hunted, I am deeply sorry...I was bewildered by the Saints game plan and if I had any inkling that Deuce McAllister would have six rushing attempts through the middle of the fourth quarter, I would have bet everything I own on the Bears. As a team, NO had 12 attempts all game long (and one was a Brees flush!)  The week before Deuce & Bush hads 33 attempts and for them to abandon/ignore the run game in the first quarter against a physical smash-mouth team like Chicago goes against every tenement there is Professional football...they deserved to lose as bad as they did...I am not trying to defend my pick (congrats to the winners!) but I fully believe that a different game plan may have resulted in a different outcome...who really knows?...and it's water under the bridge! Still, going 3-1 isn't too shabby and the week before I went 2-1 so 5-2 in the NFL Play-offs isn't a record to be ashamed about I guess! In the six-point tease plays I went 6-1. Could be a lot worse!

I am not playing this game. I took my winnings out of my account and put it in the bank until baseball season. I doubt I will post a long-winded write-up (you're welcome!). I think you guys should listen to the handicappers on this one and not the retired coach and scout. As I have said before, I am NOT a handicapper and have no interest in becoming one or thinking like one. I like handicappers. I respect them. But it is not who I am as a man or where my strengths are. I think even my most ardent and disresepectful detractors on these threads (and I certainly have a few - and you can count on being continually ignored!) would admit I understand personnel, schemes and X's and O's. But in a game like this where all the money is on the table and both teams are likely to play lights-out and throw everything at each other, the advice of a guy who knows trends and numbers may be more valuable than the two cents from an old left guard and middle linebacker.

If I don't post again, it's been a great ride, fellas. We had a lot of fun and hopefully made a few $$$. I appreciate all the nice compliments and thoughtful comments. I may cruise the baseball threads once the spring gets here so maybe I will see you on there. If not, we will crunch, rattle and roll in August 2007!! Best of luck with this one and (as always)...go make that cheese!!
