During the year i hit big on a pick going ATS on TB...... TB was getting somewhere around 10 points.... my logic for taking that game was the fact that TB's cover 2 defense would give Grossman problems.......

they almost lost that game and it was in CHICAGO.......... and if the qb was someone halfway decent with a small amount of experience.... TB would have won that game......

now im not saying these 2 teams are alike.... but TB uses the DUNGY COVER 2 SCHEME.....  that cover 2 scheme works very well against SCREENS.......

as long as the Colts run the cover 2 while chicago calls a screen... then they will stop them..... if they blitz, well then the screen will work........

I believe this is the only weapon that the Chicago offense will have with Grossman as qb, (besides running the ball)........  but with the way Bob Sanders is playing......... and if Harper shows up....... look for GROSS TURNOVERS............

I also belive the Miami Heat will have a factor on this game as well........ but Indy just went into Baltimore and came out with a win.... so i give the advantage to INDY......... but we will have to wait for the weather because if it rains...... advantage DA BEARS....

HOW GOOD IS THE CHICAGO DEFENSE????............

yes they killed the Saints......... but if you watched that game, the first half EVERYTHING went against the Saints....... if the Saints can move the ball within 2 minutes to end the first half and score a TD on a Slant with Colston....... imagine what peyton manning and that wr corp is going to do to that secondary.......

Every year i take the same bet.... i bet the team i think is going to win and i take the moneyline.... last year i hit on the steelers, the year before the Pats....... the year before that the pats.........
now the line is 7...... if i take the moneyline on that and lose

but i have to ask myself...... Are the Colts really going to lose to DA BEARS??????

after they beat the Ravens, and Patriots...........

Am I really in here posting about my Chicago Bears being in the friggin playoffs?! Unbeleivable. Any ways the reason for my post is regardsing Mannings thumb. I'm sure everyone saw him hurt it and he was really favoring it twards the end of the game. He went for an X-Ray today. Haven't heard about the results yet. Anyone have any inside info on this? A broken thumb could move this line significantly I would really like to get those results before the books react.  Big Geii your good with the insider info you have any contacts?

Every year i take the same bet.... i bet the team i think is going to win and i take the moneyline.... last year i hit on the steelers, the year before the Pats....... the year before that the pats.........
now the line is 7...... if i take the moneyline on that and lose

but i have to ask myself...... Are the Colts really going to lose to DA BEARS??????

after they beat the Ravens, and Patriots...........

    OFF OF 2 WEEKS REST?????

    Busta,
How's your day? I'm going to chyme in real quick if u don't mind. But your reference to that Tampa game that took place a month and  half ago should not factor into who you bet on in this game. If i remember correctly the Bears were up by twenty something at half and packed it in. In the second half the Bears put in their waterboys and third stringers and played a prevent style defense. Nice comeback by the bucs and I'm glad you covered. In that game the Bears scored somewhere inthe high thirties against that same cover two that Dungy and the Colts run. Marty Kiffin the Bucs D coordinator is the god father of the cover two.
Now you talk about sceens? The bears are in the bottom half if not in the bottom five in screen plays ran this year. The Bears like to stretch the field and run between the tackles.
Now I don't know how the "Miami Heat" will factor in this game? Is shack and d wade going to play Left end and corner? Is Shack going to block punts and field goals? No, There is a reason why the NFL schedules games in Miami, SD, Pasadena, Tampa and in Domes...because they don't want the weather to play a major role. lus the game is at 5:00 est. it should be quite pleasant.
Yes the saints and Colston did score in a two min. drive and cost me the first half under BUT Colston and Brees are not that bad I'm not sure you watched them much this year but they had huge numbers. One drive should not factor into your play either. I could tell you that Samuel jumped a route against Peyton for a pick six, does that mean that the Bears and their ball hawking corners and Linebackers are going to have a field day against Manning. The Bears did lead the League in turnovers forced........

I need more 411, Good luck with your pick

Sure is cool to have two of your more favorite teams in the SB though...........I live right in the middle of the crossroads of both cities and the conversations are already heating up between the two teams backers.........

Someone mentioned that the Bears gave up over 300 yards passing. Well, how many times did Brees do that this year and they lost? about 6 times, that's how many. When a team gets turned so one dimensional, they're gonna get their yards. Last I heard is that points win games, not yards, and the Bears held the top offense to two TD's. Manning may be the best QB in the game, but the Colts do not present the threats that the Saints have, and the Bears stifled them when they had to, bending but not breaking. You can't hold a speedy ball hawking D down forever, you extend the drives. That's what the Bears will do to the Colts.

Yes, I'm Bear fan first, but a Colts fan as well, and I think the Bears hold the advantage of playing on grass, outside in whatever elements there may be, and possess the more dominant running game, not to mention Defense and special teams play. Everyone saw the Pats have a field day with the Colts special teams. Just wait and see what Hester will do to the Colts. He loves the spotlight, and is playing on his college track. So you tell me, does one player (Manning) warrant a 7 point spread? No friggin way. Not only are the Bears plus the points the play, but so is the money line.

Another thing to note...The Colts biggest breakaway threats, Harrison and Wayne, do not pose mismatch threats with Charles Tillman and Nathan Vasher. It's a wash there, giving the Bears the edge in matchups everywhere but QB, and Grossman will not be on the field to defend Manning, the Bears D will, and Manning can be flustered.

I WISH EVERYONE LUCK, AS ALWAYS, BUT YOU COLTS BACKERS BETTER BEGIN TO THINK TWICE ABOUT THE MATCHUPS IN THIS GAME. THE BEARS ARE FOR REAL. THEY WILL KEEP MANNING OFF THE FIELD LONG ENOUGH TO CONTROL THE GAME.

And Bigdaddy, here's one for you with a twist. Take the Bears in the first half, and parlay it with the Bears for the game. And just for the hell of it (and to make a killing), take the Bears on the money line at +220, ALL DAMN DAY LONG.

I'll wait to hear a more gripping argument than that. Remember, I'm here to help.

by far and away the most intelligent thing i've read on here, but be careful who you tell to bet the bears, seems to me they were all about the saints as well.

Thanks Danny. Appreciate the kind words.  I thought about that after I read your post, but I don't think our posters play is gonna move the line. The public still love the favorite, even if the favorite is on the wrong side this time.

Plus, some of these guys have helped win me some coin this year, so if I can return the favor, I'm all for it...

i gotcha buckner, i am such a huge bears fan and more importantly a huge football fan and i am still fuming about the lack of respect the bears got versus the saints. and it kills me that people that might know something about football and gambling missed it so bad, i don't think there was 1 person on here pushing the bears yesterday. i mean, did anyone besides me go all in on the bears yesterday? i thought it was free cash.

Even though I'm also a huge fan, it really doesn't take that to figure this one out. The line is dead wrong in this one. I can only imagine how huge everyone was on the Saints yesterday. they betting public is rarely correct, and that's another reason I'll put my money where the Bears are...

Until this year, I bet the vast majority on favorites and overs. Taking the dogs and unders for the most part paid huge dividends this year, along with a bit of common sense. Dont get me wrong, I took the Bears Colts, bears over yeasterday to have a huge day, but most people live with the favorites and overs, and lose their ass in the process.

I will be staying away from the total in this game, as there a too many fun props to bet on the SB, but it's the Bears all the way. Manning will get his chances, especially as Addia grows with this team, this one will be wasted.

The Colts are not New Orleans either on offense or defense, don't kid yourselves.
Grossman is still a ? every time he hits the field. Colts secondary is very live. Harper injury could be big.
The defense played well yesterday for Chicago, on a very bad track. It was a big factor.
The Colts have already beaten the leagues #1 defense on the road by more than 7, and the most balanced team in the playoffs in NE.
Manning is the most difficult QB in the league to sack.

I still have no opinion on the game yet, I think 7 is a high number here, and I promise I will not take this pick lightly or be a homer about it. I just wanted to offer some points to ponder. I was very high on both of these teams yesterday, this is gonna take a while. -9.5 to -3 to +7 in three weeks - wow. That's all over the map for a SB team.

    Smokey, congrats
Manning will play this game, trust me. He looked pretty ok to me on that final drive. Two weeks is a nice long time to heal. If he's out, this line will totally flip to Chicago as a favorite and screw Vegas royally.
If you are convinced about Chicago, I'd grab the points now, because my initial thinking is this line will drop.
You will be able to come back at it at no worse than 7.
Tank's got a big hearing tomorrow & it sounds like this judge has a hard on for him, he may not be able to leave the state.
Stay tuned, I've gots me some thinkin to do. We have lots of time.

The field conditions yesterday were just fine. There was very little the field had to do with this. Even the Saints said as much. The Pats are not a fast team, by any means (Ok Maroney can run).

I just really think the multiple matchups favor the Bears. No, I know they do.

Again, I will continue to wait for a good argument against just that point (see my earlier post). We have the better part of two weeks. And I have nothing if not an open mind.

And Phancard, I enjoy your posts, and respect them. With all due respect, the Saints didn't give the ball away, the Bears took it from them, as they did all year. There is a point when what people perceive as fluke becomes trend, and 18 games ought to be enough to earn some respect for what the Bears are, an outstanding defensive and special teams club that can score with anyone, especially against the Colts D that can be had.
