Look at this guy in Gen Disc.

He is going to quit his analyst job to become a pro because he won 8k last month at 5dimes, and thinks he can avoid the tax man too probably due to his superior intellect.

    Only at covers.

The vig in horseracing is outrageous.  That is rule #1 for me - DONT BET IN TO HIGH VIG LINES.  Parimutuel lines are absurd house hold.

Horse racing is in the bingo, lottery, and roulette category for me - a never bet unless I am drunk, on a cruise ship, or a guest of D Wayne Lukas at Churchill Downs in May.

Guest of D Wayne Lucas.... LMFAO!  Good luck with that!

Not yet, but it is on my list.  Probably get to it in a couple of months, or much sooner if my gambling days are on hiatus.

I am at a time where I am considering putting more into this endeavor as my work career winds down. I am not tied to the US betting landscape. This thread has been very informative for me. Thanks for your input.

What payment methods do you trust and give us an overview of the direction of that process is going?

Thanks again for all you have done for the posting community over the years

I did not see an answer to my question regarding payment methods.

    Thanks

Sorry dude, I read your post, and thank you for the compliment - but I did miss the question....

What payment methods do you trust and give us an overview of the direction of that process is going?

It is kind of like asking someone where the housing market is going, and are we at the bottom.  Ask a realtor, and you get a much different answer than asking a financial analyst.  My opinion is that now is the absolute worst time in the history of online gambling to be an american gambler.  How much worse could it get?  I guess the greek and bookmaker could go away, and then you would have zero reliable A books out there for americans.  But short of that, Im not sure what else could make it worse.

I get a general sense that there is a rising tide for legalization.  Mostly because of the general state of the federal and state economies, along with more and more prominence of the issue.  How long will it take?  I dont know - but once poker becomes legal - that opens floodgates for sportsbooks.  Every sportsbook will simply open a poker room and do transfers back and forth.  The UIGEA passed in about 24 hours from birth to death, so it is impossible to predict what bill a new law could get attached to and passed, but I do think it will happen eventually.  Prohibition doesnt work.

I only currently trust Neteller.  Thats it.  I have other methods, but each has its own level of risk.  Once people get involved and you are handing off brown bags in parking lots - you either assign a level of risk to that or you stick your head in the sand - I choose to understand that one day I will have my own unpayable accounts receivable account.

Unfortunately, for someone like you - there is very little middle ground.  You can either choose the traditional WU deposit route at a rec book and lay -110, or you have to do a cannonball in to the deep end and set up a foreign residence and banking presence to get in to the pinnys, mbs, and betfairs.  But that is a big decision, and there are reprocussions.  I am considering (and leaning towards) doing the opposite move that you are.  At least for the time being.

Sorry dude, I read your post, and thank you for the compliment - but I did miss the question....

What payment methods do you trust and give us an overview of the direction of that process is going?

I haven't read it either Van.... I have heard about the basics of the book and a couple friends have read it and mentioned to me some the details.

I have been writing a commentary called  "The Santa Clause effect"     Comparing religion and god to the relationship that most children have with Santa and Christmas.

Whats your take on capitalism Van?

Have never been a big fan of it due to the long term issues involving it. As the years progress individuals and businesses will become wealthier and the masses will continue to degress. Its just like a poker tourney...longer the tourney is played...the more a few own everything.

At what point should we consider something like economic communism?

Do you think we as a society over-value sports? Is it justifiable to pay athletes millions per year when they are ultiamtely not that important?

Has the gambling at this point in your life become a joy or a burden? I'm asking about the raw gambling, not so much the stress of moving money and the risk involved. When you have a team holding on for dear life in the final minutes of a game you have a large wager on what goes through your mind? What are your emotions at this point in your life?

At the end of the day are you satisfied with the life you have chosen for yourself? Was all the stress, hard work, ups and downs, sacrifices etc worth it?

Have any personal relationships in your life suffered from gambling? How do you not let the ups and downs and pressure of doing this for a living affect your personal life?

I am a socialist.  I realize that is not popular to say, but it is the truth.

Capitalism, as you state, is unsustainable IMO longterm.  The rich get richer, poor get poorer, until the balance gets too wide - and it gets reset usually through violence of the masses.  I do not believe that individuals will take it upon themselves to keep things equal, I do believe that it takes a govt to do that.  I believe in higher taxes, better education, free and equal healthcare for all, and equal playing fields for things like jobs.  Is it surprising that the happiest people year after year are in the scandinavian countries - where you have 50%+ taxes but everyone values life?  Not to me.

I am not a sports fan.  I dont have favorite teams.  I cant understand (really literally cant understand) how people pay money to support their favorite team.  The only way I understand it is if it is for family bonding once in a while like a father and son - but a season ticket to the Knicks that cost 40 grand?  Huh?  I dont get who buys the jackets and jerseys, I just dont get it all.  I realize that it is supply and demand, so I understand why athletes get paid what they do, but I cannot comprehend the guy who makes 50K a year who has season tickets to the Cowboys and then calls them "we" when referring to anything about them.  There is no we in sports.  We didnt win the super bowl.  Anyone with a paycheck that says green bay packers won the super bowl, "we" didnt.

Up to #341 - which is a post full of great questions - and to properly answer them I need a dinner break.

Hopefully back later to get to the rest.
