Avoiding taxes is the only way to get in legal trouble gambling.  Avoiding taxes can also bankrupt you.

I have different arrangements.  My goal is to have as few money moves as humanly possible.  There is risk and cost to every move.  This is consistent with my requirement that I will only play at books that I feel that I can have considerable balances with, or only enter agreements with people I know I can trust.  But who are we kidding with that statement?   You can trust very few people in life - so there is a cost - and a cost to the risk.  That cost has become so expensive for me that I am currently considering taking a hiatus.

In the old days, I would transfer money with impunity, in and out of my bank accounts, to books, between books - anywhere.  I guess the intent of the UIGEA has effectively put a stranglehold on me - cut off the money and you cut off the gambling.  The funny thing is that the rec gambler can still do his thing at a -110 book with WU or CC, but the people at least risk and in need of govt protection (the guys who do this for a living) are cut off at the nuts.  Also notice which books are shutting down to the US?  All of the low cost books (pinnacle, betfair, MB) dont want americans.  But want to play the horses, lottery, or bet -110?  No problem.

Sorry, got a little off track.  I dont get rebates for losing.  Shops that already offer discounted juice dont offer rebates.  I did get no commission at MB for about 2 years, but that ended when they switched their commission structure about 2 years ago.  No commission at MB was the nuts, I was making markets all over the place with such an upside.  Unfortunately, in retrospect, I didnt take advantage of it enough.

Tough question because I often dont hold middles, I try to sell a bet at the line I bought so I have nothing for the game.  But I have won a few middles, nothing really worth talking about though.

Almost every wager has multiple ways to bet it.  Same result needed, but depending upon how you bet it, different payout.

I used to be shocked at how many people at covers didnt care that they werent maximizing their payout, but now I have come to accept it.  I have posted novels here about hedging, betting parlays differently, betting futures by rolling over rather than taking a shit odds - but nobody cares because 95% of gamblers just want the action.  They dont care about squeezing pennies.  I make my money by squeezing pennies - and since making money is my only goal - I look at these people the way a dog looks at a squeeky toy - with my head tilted.

In the end, most gamblers dont even care if they get paid.  Now Im not saying they arent pissed, but winning 50k and not getting paid wont stop them - they will get pissed - then be back at it with someone else.  It is proven over and over with offshore books.  People insist on playing at shit books, even though 20 minutes of research would point everyone at the same handful of safe books.  Why?  Because they just want action.  So it doesnt surprise me at all that people who win 50k would hope they get paid, but in the end would give half of it back to just keep gambling.

If I remember that correctly, that game came down to a last minute score or non score that decided it - the spread was about 14 - and I lost with the chargers.  Not sure of the amount I lost, but it wasnt really a big deal for me.

I promise to get to this.  I have a real hard time thinking of them off the top of my head.  For instance, if I watch a gameshow that asks a question where you have to come up with the answer out of thin air (like jeopardy), I have a very hard time accessing that info.  But give me a multiple choice, even if there are 100 choices, I do very well.

My problem with this question - along with the movie question above - is that I have trouble accessing the correct info.  I want a little time to investigate this so that I give a proper answer.  I will answer it before my ass totally burns on the hot seat.

The vig in horseracing is outrageous.  That is rule #1 for me - DONT BET IN TO HIGH VIG LINES.  Parimutuel lines are absurd house hold.

Horse racing is in the bingo, lottery, and roulette category for me - a never bet unless I am drunk, on a cruise ship, or a guest of D Wayne Lukas at Churchill Downs in May.
