Supposedly start Time: 12:50 today sept. 1, 2025 – it’s possible that Kostyuk may withdraw. If not, she may play for the money and make a half-hearted effort.
I just wagered on this match while Kostyuk is presently playing her round of 16 match with Muchova. Kostyuk just held serve in the first game of the 2 set.
This doubles match is supposed to start at 12:50 pm today Sept. 1 however its no way it will be played before 4 or 5 pm today after Kostyuk has time to rest and relax for a minimum of 3 hours or more from her singles match.
No matter whether Kostyuk comes back and beats Muchova or not, mentally and emotionally she will be drained.
If Kostyuk wins her singles match it will be worth $660,000us so it’s a huge monetary price on this singles match which will take a lot out of her mentally and emotionally.
I feel that I have a big edge in my doubles pick of Mertens / Kudermetova who both are out of the singles competition and will have 100% focus and concentration on winning this doubles matchup sometime today.

bringit................... I seriously believe that if Kostyuk wins this match with Muchova she will withdraw from the doubles because it would put her kin the quarters and there is too much money at stake to risking it by staying in the doubles and maybe having an injury, just to try and win around 50,000 dollars.
If she loses, she may well continue in the doubles match out of loyalty to her doubles partner G. Ruse and she'll give a halfhearted effort.
Regardless of whatever happens I feel that I made my wager having an edge and if the match is played and I lose then so be it.

bringit.......... the match played out pretty much like I saw it, especially after Kostyuk lose in 3 sets a few hours earlier in the singles against Muchova, expending a lot of mental and emotional energy in the loss.
The match started exactly 3 hours and around 15 minutes after her singles match ended.
Occasionally in the WTA / ATP 1000 events or other slams I can find opportunities where a singles player advances in the tourney and have to play a doubles match in the same day with only 3 or 4 hours of rest. Most of the time the highly ranked plyers (there are a few who still play both singles & doubles) just do a walkover / forfeit instead of playing the doubles match expending physical and mental energy, because they make the big money playing singles.
Anyway, I have really been enjoying watching the matches.
