She used to be a reliable good tennis player
She choked up a 5-1 1st set lead this morning to lose in 7-6 tiebreaker and lose the match 7-6/6-2

My assumption is that she has been dealing with some kind of undisclosed injury or fitness issue. Since Miami and before this week she had only shown up to play in four tournaments which were all first round losses. But those 4 tourneys were two slams and two 1000s and her ranking gave her direct main draw entries. Just showing up for those 4 matches would've netted her over $200k. But she didn't bother playing any of the smaller clay events or any grass warmups which indicates to me that she wasn't really trying to make any sort of splash during the clay/grass swings and was mostly rehabbing instead. But of course as long as she can walk she's still going to show up to those big tournaments and collect that money. I faded her with alt spreads against Rybakina at Wimbledon for this exact reason. It was fairly obvious she was just going to show up to collect the check.
I didn't expect much out of her this week but the fact that she showed up to play a 250 event after not playing anything below 1000 in like 5 months probably indicates that she is starting to heal up and trying to get back in her groove again. I just wouldn't touch her until she starts showing some kind of decent form.

Good insight. The line was screaming to fade her, I went with her. One lost first set I cashed out and took chance pouring it on lourdes-carle and paid off
Good thing got a few good players to toy with this week like Yastremska, Alexandrova, and Boisson

I am pretty sure she had a back injury in feb or march Last year - and that has bothered her on and off since then I think - not a player I follow intensively - but I recall being told something like that

And yeah I agree with Bringit - unless you think the market has priced an injury too high - I would also stay away from it - the same reason I almost never bet Rybakina anymore (even though I have earned a shit ton on that girl) - she hasn’t been the same after she got Covid and was raped - betting Tennis is almost like being a psychologist - knowing everything that goes on in their personal life and inside them are almost as important as knowing how they play
