It means he forfeited, if you had him, you lost regardless of the match because he didn’t finish

Never bet tennis without reading your bookmakers rules - they vastly differs from bookmaker to bookmaker - and not only regarding retirement rules - but everything from postponed events to changing of surface or court ! (This is esp. True if you use international facing sportsbooks - the US facing ones keeps the hands under you - the international ones doesn’t temper their rules to accommodate the bettor)

It is actually a good rule of thumb regardless of what sport you bet on - baseball and soccer also differs a lot for instance
