If anyone follows tennis at all they know he is top 5 talent just never took the game serious until last 2 years. His parents spoiled him majorly and he never had to work for anything. His two handed backhand is his best weapon and I Agee the Joker is the only one better at the moment. The guy hasn't lost much in last few months. He beats Byrd on clay

most of you guys just underrated what he has done since the end of last year. it's just amazing how he has progress and grown in term of maturity.

Beat Fed in RG its everything except nothing. Someone just lesson his post game conference ? Fed was just frustrated and to frrustrate Fed except if youre Nadal or Djokovic, you have to do some hard work. I did it and very well.

Berdych is just a choker and like every year he will chock again.

Really looking forward to this one. He has more than enough talent to beat berdych. He's already beaten him in a major before. Whether or not he will is another story. I wouldn't be surprised at all if gulbis wins. I also wouldn't be surprised if he mentally implodes ala the match vs querry in Australia. He's made leaps and bounds progress mentally in the last year. I also highly doubt many other tennis players have been more profitable to back in that timespan.

The only thing I've ever had a problem with in this thread is someone saying he doesn't have much talent and is just a big serve and nothing else.

I guess we will find out in a couple hours.

Gulbis showed he had crap loads of talent already 3 years ago and have since then improved and gotten some decent wins every now and then. BUT HE ISNT GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN A MAJOR. And he most likely never will be good enough to be a major winner. He simply just doesnt have what it takes. I will bet my house that when he ends his career he will be standing without a major tournament title. 
Hes the kinda guy that just hangs around the tour, but he will never end up with a major win.

please stop saying that. youre surely right but at this time who except Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Murray, Wawrinka (unless i do thing his AO run was a flu) and maybe Ferrer, has the potentiel to win a major tournament ?

Right behind all this guys you have the raising players like Dimitrov, Raonic, etc and you have some dark horse where you can include Gulbis.

Surely, in this ERA of tennis i do not think someone can beat Nadal or Djokovic when they are at their best but never said never..

It's not really talking a big stance to say he will never win a major. There's a big difference between that and being a talentless hack like you called him.

And is someone seriously trying to compare ferrer on clay vs berdych on clay and make a comparison that correlates to gulbis? However much better berdych may be than gulbis, ferrer is ten times that better than berdych on clay.

You guys can all come in here after berdych wins today and go nuts about how right you are. Gulbis may very well get rolled. But he has talent. Boatloads of it.

Tennisnut correct he has talent but to say dark horse of the french open well clearly not but who has he beat in honesty over the last month except Federer... and we all know federer prefers grass

Gulbis had crap load of talent, and he wasted it. Hes trying to get back on the path of where he was, but it will never result in a major win, and in 10 years no1 will give a darn about who was #17 on the rankings in 2014, you can count on that my friend. No1 will ever mention nor remember a loudmouded rich kid like Gulbis.

You mentioned the top 5 that currently has a chance of winning a major. Berdych could potentially do it on the hard court, but thats perhaps it (i dont think he will either) and if it happens that someone outside these 5 players wont win a major, then the next in the line to win a major as a dog will be:

Tsonga, Janowicz, Dmitrov, Berdych, Raonic, Ferrer, Cilic, Gasquet, Nishikori, Monfils, Isner and those type of players.

Behind them is an even further layer of scrubs, maybe you can plot in Gulbis here:

Verdasco, Haas, Anderson, Dolgo, Lopez, Kohl, Simon, Youzhny, Gulbis and a whole lot more under here. 


So Gulbis will never work himself into a zone and a position where he will win a major. Thats 100% sure. Wasted talent, now hes just sucking up money.

And if we are talking about talent only and so on, then Gulbis is 25, its too late for him to do something, he is soon starting to reach his highest level of tennis and peak, and that wont bring him to a level where he can win a major. Compared to other talented kids like Janowicz, THAT guy will probably be due for a major title somehow and THAT guy has crap load of talent when the grass season begins, he is totally opposite of Gulbis in that regard. And if we talk about other players with talent then Pospisil has higher chances of winning a major too with his talent, could bring him a major on the hardcourt in 5'ish years.

I dont have any hatred towards the man in that regard im just saying hes a rich kids that likes to run his mouth even tho he has nothing to back it up with + that hes a mediocre tennis player. Thats all i have said. So stop putting words in my mouth stating that i hate him when i dont. I just saying he isnt as good as you wanna make him.

And funny how this thread was made after he had beaten Federer like its some big upset beating a washed up federer on the clay.

This has to be the dumbest post in the world. Before you listed players like Tsonga, Berdych, Monfils, Isner, Gasquet as players who can potentially win a GS, yet they are all older than Gulbis by at least 2 years. LMAO at Pospisil having enough talent to win a GS. Dude is 23 and hasn't even won an ATP title.

You listed Isner as a potential GS darkhorse, you are clearly stupid

So yes, Isner has better chances than Gulbis of winning a grand slam, without a doubt. But he wont win of course.

And yes, Pospisil is talented, really talented. Higher chances than Gulbis too.

Popisil winning a grand slam is laughable right now.  Even more laughable is Isner winning one.  Of the top 200 players in the world he has the least consistent ground strokes.  Outside his serve his game is an utter joke.  

If Isner did underhand serves in a match there are plenty of solid college players that would drill Isner.

But I don't have a problem with you.  All we have is opinions.  I just think your're not giving Gulbis his due.  And you think I'm giving him too much.  Just have to agree to disagree.

Let's hope it's a good one.

Isner wont win a major either. Just like Gulbis wont win one. Thats my point. I just think that IF either of the players should win one i think Isner has the higher chances. And what if Gulbis did underhand serves? I dont see its any different.
