250 event before a slam, don’t think this tournament will be a high priority for the seeded players.
Mirra have never won a WTA tornument and she haven’t played any hard matches this year. I think this will be a great opportunity for her to get in form before US Open and claim her first title.
V Williamns
Stephens
Kudermetova
Noskova
??? (She we beat anyone from the top draw)

Great win, glad it didn’t end under the hour mark. The first set was only 20min… she need the minutes it was her first game this month and first game of the year on hard so I think this will only do us good for the second round. :)

Maria spent last week down in Barranquilla, Colombia where she won the title. She played the final yesterday and this match is tomorrow. looking at flights between Barranquilla and Cleveland and the quickest is 9h most up to 20h.
I doubt she will play this match but if she does how fresh will she be? Maybe she double her prize money from last week on Gracheva :o
Gracheva also won their only meeting.
thoughts?

Is Gracheva Really an underdog against Maria T?

Won home in Florence in May, Reached the final in Makarasha in June, another final in Palermo in July (beat Kasatkina on the way and bageled Sorribes Tormo)
This month she reached QF in Cincinnati beating Rybakina 2-0.
The top draw is very weak compared to Andreevas half. I expect her to reach the final here.

I like this more and more, glad I got 2.15 yesterday, down to 1.90-2 at most bookies now on Gracheva.
just looking at the players she beat last week in Colombia
190, 434, 148, 138, 196 that’s the current ranking of the players she beat.
Maria is also 36 now, not easy to travel 10+ hours to go again with no rest.
Gracheva will be well rested, her to win the 1st set will also be a good play. We saw it yesterday lots of favourites lost the 1st set (Kudermetova, Stephens and Sasnovich)
Maria is 1-6 against top 50 players this year.
