Rebecca Sramkova +6.5 over Jessica Pegula +101 at bookmaker
Sramkova ranked 102 beat Haily Baptist and Antonia Rusic in Qualifying in Dubai and lost to Varava Gracheva 4-6 in the 3rd set in the 1st round.
Pegula won the tourney and picked up a check for $665,000 and now she travels over 8000 miles to Austin to play a WTA 250 ( probably out of loyalty to the tourney ceo or someone she really likes) . The winner of this event will get $37,000.
I can’t see any way that Pegula will in any way put forth much effort other than winning 6-3 6- 3 or less. No way will she risk injury or even getting fatigued. No way will she exert a lot of mental or emotional energy into trying to bagel or double bagel Sramkova.
Indian wells is coming up. She just wants to win by any score and get off the court healthy and then most likely withdraw in the 2nd round with whatever excuse…… that’s if she does not withdraw before hand.
What Wta top 4 player in the world would chance so much to destroy a player ranked 102 in a WTA 250 to prove exactly what?
To win after 3 more matches $37,330.
