White screen of death virus?

A buddy of mine got hit with this today.  He tried re-installing XP and then repairing XP.  It still doesn&#x27;t work.  He can still go online,  but when he plays poker or any other games his screen goes white.  When He tried to go into the control panel or windows explorer his screen would go white.  I think it has something to do with identity theft.  Anbody know anything about how to get rid of this virus?  Thanks.

I&#x27;ve only heard of WSOD on cell phones or pocket pc&#x27;s. Is there aan error code like the Bsod?

Do a virus scan in safe mode.  He does have up to date virus protection?
