Verizon Customer Service

I have a BB Curve and have had numerous issues with it. Long story short I was at a Verizon store today and talked with a really cool tech guy. He told me If I call customer service and complain that my phone has been terrible(which it has, on my 6th replacement) and I'm ready to leave them for another service provider that they give out account credits to purchace new phones. I'm not available for an upgrade for another year and refuse to shell out $600 for one of the new droids. He said becasue I've been a customer for over 10 years that threatening to switch could possibly get me one for free, or close to the $199 2 year activation price everyone else can get, from CS. Has anyone ever heard of this and/or tried this? Would love any feedback or tips if possible. Thanks everyone

cell phone providers cannot get anymore customers, everyone has a phone so they have to do all they can to retain customers, u tell them youre going to cancel, they'll do everything they can to make u stay as long as your account is current with them.

I called CS last night and got some angry bitch who called my bluff when I threatened to cancel my service. I asked for her name and extension and she f'n hung up on me

Going to try giving it another shot, maybe I'll get someone with a ounce of sympathy this time

Cancel it for a week or two then call back before you pay off your contact. Ask for a supervisor. They will deal.
