I am pretty close to buying a macbook and was just wondering if anybody had any experience with them. I am fairly new to Mac's and was wondering how they compared to a similarly equipped PC? Also curious about the reliability. Can they take the wear and tear of day-to-day use being opened and closed frequently? My last laptop was a Sony and it worked great until I plugged in my iPod usb one day and fried the motherboard. Lastly, should I pony up for Mac's extended warranty? It's kinda pricey, but I don't wanna get stuck with a pearl white $1000 paper weight in the event that anything goes wrong with this new laptop.
Any help is appreciated.

i am the proud owner of a macbook and previously an ibook. fantastic computer, and you can run windows xp or vista on any mac with an intel processor. I 100% reccommend you buy a macbook and you wont be dissapointed
the only downside is they are more expensive than a similarly configured pc. if you are willing to buy a refurbished model, apple.com sells refurbished items for a really good discount. i personally never buy extended warranties for computers, as i am careful with my shit, and if something goes wrong i usually know how to fix it. but since laptops are tougher to deal with than desktops, the extended warranty might give you more peace of mind. hope this helps.
