For Lippsman, mutant B and all the other tech savvy people
I bought a dlink 655 router a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine until this morning when it kept dropping the internet connection about every 30 seconds. After chatting with their support for 2 hours, all they had me do was have me reduce my speed/duplex setting to Force 10 half duplex from Full autonegotiation [whatever that does] and disable my nod32 firewall.
I now have an internet connection but my disabled software firewall worries me even though the router has a firewall. If I enable the nod32 firewall, I get no internet so it appears I have to keep it disabled. Will this be a security problem? The nod32 AV is still enabled.

Try another firewall software and see what happens. Go to www.download.com and just search for firewalls. You may of clicked on a setting that started blocking everything with the nod firewall.
Now reducing your speed is not acceptable at all. You shouldn't have to do that. Even though a little known secret is that your interent connection speed is no faster with a 100 connection as opposed to a 10 connection

Lou, that evening I re-set everything back to where it was before the problem started including enabling the NOD32 firewall and my connection has been fine ever since.
One of the gremlins I guess
