Recommend a Video Card

I'm looking for something compatible with my TV (60" 1080p Sony Wega, rear projection).
I'm not a gamer and, at the most, I'd like to have the ability to play a movie on the PC and use the TV as a monitor as well as be able to log into covers via my couch on Sundays.
My PC has good processor speed and a gig of RAM.
 
Kindly recommend a video card that will ensure the capability I'm looking for but also not be overkill.

bus speed ?
Windows XP ?
what other programs are you running ?
 
or you can just buy something within your price range
and hope it works

whatever u narrow down to, get a NVIDIA not ATI

Windows XP SP2

I don't run any games. Just looking for something to connect the PC to the TV to watch movies and surf the net.

great question, am also looking to replace my video card.  I want a quiet one, cant stand noisy ones.  Any ideas?

So may be that sound I keep hearing whenever I turned on my computer could possibly be the video card instead of the fan?

I keep telling myself to open it to find out but never gotten around to do it yet.

i had to open mine because of a noise
i found it was a wire rubbing against the chip fan

That would work, but make sure your computer has a PCI-E slot in it.  Now this is different from a regular PCI slot.  Only newer computers would have PCI-E
