Question about streaming video

Question

When I try and watch an NBA game online I get about 10 seconds of video, it stops for 10 seconds (like its reloading), and then another 10 seconds of video. Why? Is this normal?&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;My computer specs - 500MRAM, XP, verizon DSL with a wireless router. &#xD;&#xA;I&#x27;m not sure if I need to increase memory or if this is normal with streaming video. I would appreciate any help.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Thanks

You can never have enough ram.  How fast is your cpu?

also check the speed of your internet from you isp. If you`ve` gone el cheapo like me you wont get a steady feed.

As T100 said, do a speedcheck on your connection.  &#xD;&#xA;Dump DSL and get a cable modem, you won&#x27;t be sorry.  Also, go ahead and bump up your ram.  Put at least another 512 MB in there.

I wanted to update this because it finally got resolved. Lipps I understand about dumping DSL and this was the last straw but I still have it for now.&#xD;&#xA;In a nutshell, Verizon tech support kept telling me I didn&#x27;t have a line problem and it turns out I did. If you have DSL bookmark this site and run a test. The speed I was getting was dial up speed but it should have been between 1000kbps and 3300kbps depending on your service. The most mine would get when I found out about this test and performed it was 122kbps or twice dial up (56kbps is dialup). &#xD;&#xA;When the service guy came out he tested the line at a box on the side of my house. I was getting 3300kbps, the amount I should have been getting. It turns out, one of the wires from that box that goes into my house was somehow damaged. We spent the next hour replacing the phone wire. Once that was complete everything was perfect. Needless to say the test was the key because it was the only way I could determine if their was a problem.&#xD;&#xA;Lastly, I spoke to some manager somewhere in Rhode Island and chewed him a new one. Because I had this issue for so long I did get 6 months free out of the deal.

Glad to hear the update, that&#x27;s the first thing tech does.  Blame everything but thier own equipment.

Remote testing can&#x27;t always reveal an issue on the customer prem wire. Then again, they could&#x27;ve rolled a tech to perform the same test long ago............did they? &amp; leave a door tag saying everything was good outside?
