paging LIPP - notebook help!

I am unsure if this is a notebook problem or a problem with my Firefox. Everytime I try opening firefox, or even IE, it takes a long time (5 min +) for the window to open. When it does open, there is a blank page and it takes awhile to load as well. It was never like this before, when i first used it...it was pretty quick to open...now it is very slow.

I tried googling the problem, but i got kinda confused on what i found...now i'm hoping Lipp can help me out

The blank page thing sounds kinda malwarey-ish but may be nothing, try downloading SAS free editon and do a full system scan.  If it comes up with a bunch of nasties you might want to run combofix for a through cleaning or have whatever virus protection you use run a boot-time scan to catch any trojans or virus before they are latched into the system files. 
 
Running CCleaner definitely wouldnt hurt either to clean out the accumlated junk files in both IE and FF. 
 
Worst case scenario after doing these things, FF still loads slow but you have a bit cleaner system.

As JJ said you very could well have some varmints in there. Sounds suspect.

thanks for the tips guys! i did try CCleaner a few days ago...but that didn't do much...i will try the other programs and see what happens

where can i download SAS? does that stand for something? i tried looking for it, but i can't find it...

SAS = SuperAntiSpyware, apologize for fucking up the first link there.

thanks JJ!

So i ran the SAS and it only detected one ad ware crap...but my firefox is still slow...what do you guys think is the problem? could it just be that my computer is slow?

i appreciate the help

Run msconfig then click on the startup tab and see how many programs have checks beside them.
 
click start
run
msconfig
hit enter
click on the startup tab

there are 26 checked on the start tab

i don't even know what half of them are..

I'm sure most of them you don't need.  Is there anyway you can take a couple of screenshots of them and e-mail it to me ?
