New TV Help

I am reaching out in hopes someone can give me some advice about buying a new TV.

I am not looking to spend a ton of money (somewhere between 700 and 800 bucks) for new TV for our basement.

I see Best Buy has a 47 inch 1080p LCD for about $700 but they also have a 50 inch 720p Plasma for the same price.

From what I have heard the 1080p LCD is a better TV but it will be a little smaller. Is that still the best option?

For a bigger tv definitely get the 1080pDell Home has this Sharp on sale today for 699 w/ free shipping
