Yeah, it's probably dirt/lint that is on your heatsind and the fan can't cool it.
Also see if there is a fan on the back of the computer. Use the can of air on that one also.......Plus blow out the fan on the power supply. Make sure you do this with the computer unplugged and don't turn the can sideways of upside down.
Tell us how it goes

no beeps. in fact it seems to get louder when i have a few things going on at the same time(cbssportsline, espn,word...)whebn i ck scores and record them. computer comes on fine, runs its thing, then i begin. no major troublr yey, but since i dont know how to backup my files and such, im afraid ill lose it all. is there a way i can send audio to you? i recorded sound on my cell. im out of options and i plan on looking for some pres day sales in the morning

Sounds like you are out of memory and using swap space on the disk. Doesn't sound like the fan if it gets louder when you have more on your desktop. Have you tried defragging the disk?
I had a disk make excessive noise when it was ready to kick the bucket. Then, I turned the computer off and it would not boot up again. So you could have a hard disk going bad.
If you shut off the computer and rebooted, do you hear the sound immediately (for about two seconds) after turning on the computer? If so, it is a fan, if you do not hear it until the disk starts spinning, then it's a disk. Not sure what else it could be....

Well if it was a processor going thermal you would hear a constant alarm and your computer would freeze up.
I think it could be a fan going bad on you. CPU fan or case fan.
Are you feeling frisky and want to get under the hood.
Unplug the case fan. If you have one....Should be on the back of the computer, just under the power supply. The cable would go to the motherboard. Unplug the computer and take it off the motherboard. Then start your computer up with the side off of it.
That way you will be able to hear where the sound is coming from better. Or maybe the sound will stop when you unplug it.
As Kangy said it could be your hard drive going out on you. It could be the CPU fan or the fan on the case. I think that's pretty much it. Also you could unplug your cd-rom. I mean unplug the power from it. Sometimes they will spin even though nothing is in them.
