I just bought one of these about a month...read TERRIFIC reviews and my brother sold me on getting a Mac (I have been a PC guy my whole life) this is my 1st Apple computer. The main reason I shelled out the extra dough for it is because of the supposed longevity of Macs. I talked to a guy that had his MacBook for 9 years and its still going strong...my Toshiba crapped out on me after 5 years and was struggling after the first 3 years. Hoping this turns out to be a good investment even though I don't use many of the feature that my Mac offers. Any opinions/input would be great

You will be very happy with the MacBook.  I have an Alienware laptop because i am a PC guy and use my PC for gaming.  However, I have used MacBooks quite a bit and they are terrific.  Very fast and efficient.  The multi-touch pad is awesome.

It is good, but I'm a PC guy also.  Although I have a MacBook Pro that's only 6 months old I'm setting on right now.

Need to dump the thing.

the new air's have some critical upgrades!!!  damn i want one...maybe xmas time will see some nice deals somewhere..

backlit keyboard = ABOUT TIME APPLE...its a $1000 computer!!!!

Yeah no kidding!!  My Alienware has a fully customizable backlit keyboard and accents.  20 different colours or so.

And now that their making super thin (some wireless!!) external HDD can attach them to top of the air and it won't flip! Latest drive I've seen is 300-500gb ranges, plenty enough...I store my movie and music on a network attached HDD,also have remote connect/cloud setup... so this one would be just cause/ in case
