I have a SONY VAIO laptop, not sure if model matters..........when I unplug the charger and I have the lappy on high performance [bright] it only lasts 20 minutes. It used to last longer than that. Now ive recently noticed that it dies about 2minutes before the 20 minute mark. Eventually will I only have 5minutes? Is there a way to reverse this? fix it? No?

Srtezz nailed it.....Those Sony batteries are not cheap though. E-Bay will be your friend, but try to get a real deal Sony replacement instead of those cheap knock offs.
