I have an approx. 3 yr. old emachines desktop. Went to use it this morning and it shut-off on me. Went to turn it back on, and the only thing that happens is the fan turns on..nothing else. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Could be a few things. Right off the bat I would say power supply. Is there a green light on the back of it that blinks? If so it is your PS.
Or.....could be motherboard.
You can get a PS online pretty cheap. Hell, just put in your model number in Ebay and add power supply in there and something will come up. You can call around to your local computer shops but they will probably charge you on the high side for one.
Most E machine PS's are a bit hard to find on the shelf. Although if it's not one of those slimline ones you may be able to pick up one at a Best Buy or Office Depot. Again you will find one on Ebay a good bit cheaper probably

I do not see a green light in the back on. The light on the front is not doing anything. Sounds like the mother..fn.. board. Thanks for your insight my friend.

Sorry. Was out of town for a couple of days. It's the motherboard. Looks like approx. $280 to repair. Thinking of buying a new tower. I'm not sure yet. Waiting for the repairman to verify everything. Thanks for asking.
