LCD Monitor Question

Finally ditched the CRT for this LCD 22" Viewsonic VX2260vm.   It tells me taht I should be using the 1920x1060 resolution setting for best picture but everytime I do that I lose part of my windows taskbar with all the little icons in the lower right corner.  So I updated my graphics card driver but I still can't use the big resolution and have to go the next size down at 1680x1050.  I played with the vertical and horizontal but that wasn't completely successful. 

How the hell do I get the 1920x1060 picture to fit on my screen??

do you mean 1920x1080?  That is what this Viewsonic model is set at.

And like Lipps said, you can set it lower, just make sure it's the same ratio (use a calculator).  The negative of that is while you can set the monitor to a lower resolution of what it should be set to, you sacrifice a lot of quality by setting a widescreen lower than the resolution the monitor is made for.  Usually the text and icons look not very sharp and the screen will take a little bit of a fuzzy look to it.

sometimes the video card software allows to adjust the screen too (like the physical buttons on the monitor)  I've seen Nvidia and ATI cards have the option.  Maybe can combine the monitor settings and software adjustments to achieve your desired result.  GL

jackjaffe, that is the setting it tells me.  When you mean the same ratio do you mean something like
1920x1080 divided by 2 (or whatever - just using 2 for this ex)

would be 960x540?
