I don't need to play any movies on the plane or anything else. I just need one for connecting to the internet from somewhere else in my house so my wife can use this computer. I have some questions, and you guys at covers always seem to have the answers...
1. How much will I need to spend to get a reliable laptop?
2. What kind of memory or processor will I need? (I know very little about computers LOL)
3. How easy is it to hook up what I need to have internet access from my laptop? A buddy of mine told me I need a router. What would I do with that LOL?
4. Can both computers be online at the same time?
I really don't want to spend more than $1000 for everything I need. Is that possible?
Thanks guys

Oh,spending less than $1000 is very possible and very doable. Just get a wireless router and you and your wife can be online at the same time. Just make sure you have broadband internet service. Cable modem preferable. You would connect the cable modem to the router.
Make sure your laptop has at least 512 mb of memory. It would be nice if the CPU was at least a 2Ghz duel core. Yeah, I'm an Intel guy. Here is a good one to start you out with. Again, if you picked a bit faster CPU, it wouldn't suck. The stock laptop for $799 has a 1.6 Ghz, not bad. But for $999 you can get a 2Ghz one.
