Digital Cameras

I am planning to purchase a Digital camera for myself. The only requirements I essentially need is that the caamera is small enough to fit into my pocket. The camera must shoot nice clean shots. Any suggestions?

I like your advise by far. I would like to find out what is the differences in the models.

get the one with the highest optical lenses.  dont pay any attention to zoom, that is useless.

How about the mega pixels?

 

Is there that much of a drop off from a 5-10?

 

Is a 7 or 8 good enough?

 

As you can see I'm not looking to shoot professional grade photos. I just need something  decent.

I'll just stick with something between a 5-7 megapixels.  

I was looking at the Samsung S500 yesterday.  Man for the price that was a very good camera.  It was $119 at Wal-Mart.  It has 20 meg of internal memory. 2.4" LCD, 3X optical and 5X digital.  That 2.4" screen was great.  Also it takes regular AA batteries. Huge bonus for me. Unless your a pro photographer I just don't see the need for anything more than 5 megapixels. Most people don't print out thier pics anyway. 

5 mega pixels is more then enough. the optical lense is the most important feature of a digital camera. The higher the better.
