it's an old desktop, was fine the last time I used it, this morning I got this...
"a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer (I did and the same screen shows up over and over)
check and make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed (I installed nothing)"
