You have to log onto the router.

192.168.1.1

Check your manual to for the login and password. Most of the time you leave the login blank and type admin for the password. At least that is what most Linksys routers use.

Click on the wirless section.

Click manual.

then pick how you want to secure it.

WEP is easy and you won't have a problem with it. Yeah, there are better protocols, like WPA or WPA2, but some cards have trouble hooking up to them.

Change your SSID to something other than Linksys.

That's pretty much it.

thanks for the help, but for some reason I can't log in into the site. Tried Username:admin Pass:admin, but won't let me log in.

try leaving the user name field empty and use admin as the password

Call your router supplier. Usually it is a free call. Or go to their website , where there is usually a forum to ask questions such as this.

1. Reset router by depressing reset button continuously for 30 secs.

2. Try both username\password combinations of (none)\admin and admin\admin.

3. If it still doesnt work you don't have a Linksys.
