Non system - strategic chases

I have been playing around with small chases recently that are not system plays with some success. (TBH I don't know how to backtest to pick up systems anyway)
Recent ones include LA Dodgers vs Braves.
Boston v Tampa Bay
1st inning tie in MLB playoffs, if no ties chase 2nd inn (and so on)

I decided to start this thread to see if anyone else does similar.

Tomorrow I will begin a chase with San Jose and LA Kings (3 game chase, I am aware San Jose starts in a system next game too *possibly*)
I will also be starting a 3 game chase with the Pitsburgh Penguins.

I have been basing these chases purely on my own limited knowledge. 

So does anyone else use similar methods to turn profits?

I tried it once and started 15-0, then quit after my first loss. I've learned that discipline and BR management are the biggest keys to success, so now I will only make a play if it's from a system that has been heavily back tested.

I haven't done it, I'm just not that good of a handicapper. I do much better with systems and money management. I've been messing with a game simulator that is showing some promise. I'll feel better about it if Missouri -11 covers.

Boston "a" game clears.
Tomorrow I will be starting the following chases.
Pittsburgh Penguins - next 3 games scheduled Columbus twice, then Nashville.
Colorado - Dallas, Montreal , Nashville. (Start in therizz's chase VS Montreal, assuming they start at -130)

A: 3-1
B: 0-0 (San Jose pending)
