NBA Labby trial

This may have been proposed before. However, I had an idea for what I feel can be a very profitable NBA lab system. From what I read, the basic number for success is  33%. Every season I researched (2003-04 to 09-10) Every team has finished at least 33% ATS. The closest being the 2003-04 Magic which finished 27-54-1 33%. So my simple idea would be to try a lab on one random team or every team. The key of course being that you are done with that team once your line is cleared. I picked 3 teams at random: and applied them to a 
10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10 lab. 

Team #1 2008-2009 Pistons, cleared after 17 games with the biggest bet being 3.8 units to win 3.4.

Team #2 2006-2007 Suns, cleared also after 17 games with the biggest bet being 5.3 units to win 4.8.

Team #3 2004-2005 Magic, cleared after 16 games with the biggest bet being 3.8 to win 3.4.

I'm going to use this thread to track to teams I picked at random, Bulls and Jazz. I think this could really work well with patience and discipline and of course a little luck. I wouldn't try it with hockey and baseball because of the money lines obviously. If you were on a good team like the Padres and they had that 10 game losing streak in mostly games they were favored, your bankroll would be toast. Football has too few games for 10 numbers a 0-4 ATS start could really have you pressing before seasons end.
If anyone has any questions/ suggestions please let me know, i'd like to find a way for low-risk winner over time.

you dont think a team could go 0-5 ats at some point?? pretty much suicide to do this

Hey, Rock.  I know it seems logical to play this system.  That's what I thought too when I tried it acouple of years ago, picking teams from the previous couple of years that had no 6-game ats losing streaks.  It worked well until guess what? A couple of teams had 6game losing streaks and blew my bankroll right out the window.  Granted, I used this with MLB, but I'm just throwing out a caution flag for you to be very careful with this because the unexpected can and probably will happen.  And I believe you are referencing Lab. lines when you mention the 33% rule.  It's my understanding that you have to have a 39% min. win rate to be able to eventually eliminate your lines.  And if you use Martingale, a 4 or 5 game losing streak is death to your  BR.  Whatever you decide to do, GL

Of course they can, and probably will at some point. Its a lab not a martingale. I should have mentioned that I would try with a 2,000 bank roll.

10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10 starting 0-5 would put you at


10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-22-36-51-67-85

You can certainly survive that if you were betting the right percentages.

Hypothetically, if all works out like i'm hoping I was looking at a setup like this.

4 teams to win 100 after each line is cleared. From past research that averages before the 1st 20 games (17 on most).

Bulls for example play their 20th game on December 8th. So 4 teams should all be cleared by December 15th at the latest. If it in-fact works, you should be able to run through 2 or 3 rounds of 4 teams. 4 teams 100 profit each 400x 2 or 3 rounds = $800-1,200.

I'd really appreciate productive or helpful comments, if you think its comparable to suicide, id ask if you not post please.

I read on a forum here 33%, you may however be right. Im going to give it a trial and see if its worth pursuing. Thank you for letting me know about your trial. I think where you went wrong was baseball, with money lines you can face some huge outside numbers. What percentage of your bankroll were you using?, if you don't mind me asking. I know playing to win 5% of a bankroll for a likely 15-20 game lab seems like a small grind, but with 3 or 4 of them going, it should be worth it. Any other suggestions?

Rock this will work with a $2000 bankroll.  It's a good system and only takes patience and money.  I have been doing silimar things for the past 4 years.

A couple of keys.  Don't pick too many teams.  I was doing 15 teams a few years ago and not only was it a lot of work but stressful when you had 3 or 4 teams on a losins streak. 

I am currently doing something silimar in every sport.  I have one NBA line, a football line and a hockey line.  I will also have an NCAA BB and a baseball line.

I am doing the same thing except I am picking the games myself and just betting one right after another. (For instance in football today I have an 11, 2:30, 6 and a 9PM game)

Best of luck with this.  Stick with it and dont get nervous if you lose 4 or 5 straight.

Thanks airmail. How are you doing your picks with Hockey and Baseball? Money Lines? because I was thinking about trying one team's under or over for the year. Thanks you again for your support! Much appreciated

Hockey and Baseball I try to stick with underdogs for the most part.  I have been doing mostly over/unders lately though.  Basically stay away from big favorites to avoid the line getting out of control.  You lose a few -190's in a row and you are screwed.

hi rock40237, i am starting to understand your system here, the only thing i do not understand though is why you picked 2 random teams to bet ats the whole season?

Wouldnt you rather handpick 2 teams that you feel confident in this season to play well throughout? and then just bet those teams ats the whole season?

it just seems silly to pick 2 teams random when you couldve picked 2 teams of your choice

Well I just wanted to see if it would work with 2 teams at random. The only teams I wanted to stay away from were the Lakers (because even tho they are are the best team in the league, the league best usually has bigger spread and poor ATS records) and worst team in my opinion which I though would be Toronto or Minnesota. If the 1st round of teams goes well, i'll pick more carefully for the next 2 or 3.

 My bets were less than 1% of my total bank, so that wasn't the problem.  I just got tired of long losing streaks so I chucked the whole idea.  I was playing almost every team as I recall, and now that you have shed more light on your system, and Airmail has attested that it works, maybe that's where I went wrong.  I will be looking at this from a new perspective now thanks to you and I will also be checking out Airmail's threads.  I LOVE to find new ways to make money. College Basketball starts Monday, I looked and noticed that most of the tradition schools, from serious conferences all have  ATS records around 50%. Obviously someone in conference needs to be taking the losses so the worst 2 teams are usually pretty bad (i.e. Big East had 9 teams over 50% ATS, 4 right under 50, and then Cincy an Seton Hall who were under 33. So I am going to apply the same NBA idea except with 3 "good" teams from the elite conferences (Big 12, Big East, ACC, SEC, BIG 10, C-USA, i'm leaving off Pac-10 because I live on the East coast and value getting to bed at a somewhat reasonable time haha) I'm going to track Ohio State, Kansas State and Syracuse.(with smaller lines, since it's 3 teams and also because the college season has less games than the NBA, and has some "off the board" games.

Snappa don't check out my football thread until I snap out of this 4-10 funk that I am in!! 

Hockey and NBA are going well right now.  Can't wait for NCAAB to start next week. 

I am trying to make due with my $500 starting bankroll, but am prepared to add more to it if need be to make this work.

Hey Rock...I like this system a lot...so once you clear a line with a team, do you pick a new team? Or do you just stick with the same team?

And do you think 3 teams is a good number to go with at once? And how do you break up your bankroll? Thanks!
