ok giant robot if a horse braeks stride there are resons he broke stride
the best reason is he was running aginst horses that were faster than him and trying to keep pace with them forced the horse to break stride
also track conditions can cause it !
like a heavy wind in face coming to wire
rain , snow , some horses are bad in nasty weather
now about if a horse went wire to wire on the lead and won trotters or thoroughbreds
IF he had less lengths lead at end then he had before wire that is minus finish he didnt run at end and got caught !
also the class he was running in might have been lower than class he is running against today !
CLASSING Horses is far more important than Speed !
I have seen many horses run like blazes in $5000 bottom Claimers but as soon as they move up to the $10,000 Claimers they look like fucking mudturtles !
every race must be handicapped differntly BUT using the same method !
every race has only 4 contenders the rest are there as hole fillers !
i lost count how many times my top 4 horses all were there at finsih in the order i had them 1-2-3-4
when i'm on any given day and the horses run as i expect them too i can win 8 races out of 10
when i'm having a bad day my horses are either dead last or run 4th and i never cash a ticket !
Main reason i only play the tracks I know !
usually late nights during the week it's all Trotters !
the tracks i know best are Pocono downs , Balmoral, and Northfield !
Balmoral track is a track you can clean up on when their is high winds in face in back stretch
so you need to see the the national anthem and which way that falg is blowing if it's a 10 MPH wind blowing to right that means the front runners are sucking wind in first half and will hit that wall in the stretch and the closers if there any will pass them in the stretch !
Balmoral track is near CHI ILL !
so thats the reason !
one week i caught this conditon twice on a tuesday night and a fri night
heavy winds in face in 1st half !
i won almost evry race tossing out every front running pace setter !
using the mdlle movers and closers only !
of course the local people know this too so you aint getting no longshots !
2-1 3-1 8-5 9-5 even money etc...
BUT you can add money by hittting exactas
knowing the absolute winner and the closers behind him most likely only 3 or 4 that can close
hoping the 2nd place horse is the longshot of 10-1 or higher !
i do this often when i'm catchinmg a favorable conditon !
if i have nothing but chalks finishing 1 n 2 then i just BET the winner for more money !
and forget the exacta beacuse thats when you get an exacta that pays $5.00
so if winner is paying me $4.20 6/5 i just double the wager on him alone to WIN !
ecah race is differnt puzzle i never have the same way of handicapping each race !
only the basic method plus other factors !
#1 I scartch any horse that has been out of action a month or more after a WIN in thourghbred Claimers and allowance races ! REASON is you want a horse back on the track within two weeks off a win !
#2 I never bet on a horse coming off a ist time claim Beacuse they are in jail that 1st race running at higher purses and under a new trainer and home and diff jockey !
#3 I want my horse running at same distance and same class as before showing improvement in last race !
#4 I want a TOP notch Jockey on MY horse that has run on this horse before or is better suited for the horses running style !
#5 I want this horse in post # 2 #4 #6 or #7 Beacuse they are the winnegst post in all taracks in the world !
#6 I want this horses speed at distance least a 1/2 second better than the rest of the other 3 contenders in the race !
#7 if a Horse is making a huge drp in class say FROM $20,000 Claimers down to Bottom Claimers I start looking at it as The Owner wants to unload this LOSER and get something back for him !
In other words if YOU had a House that Cost you $150,000 would you be willing to seel it for anything less than $125,000 ? NOPE!
I can understand a horse dropping in class after running against Higher Class competion that he was losing in ! BUT being competive by finsihing 5th or 6th in a field of 10 !
How many times i see suckers betting on Class Droppers and wind up seeing that horse run out of the money!
and I get a Gft because that Class dropper was fav of 6 to 5 and MY horse the supposed to be fav is 5-1 !
Like i said Giantrobot every race is differnt puzzle from the last ?
CLASS of Horses ,Track conditions , Jockey changes, distance, weather, pace of the race, and last if your horse meets all the above conditons then SPEED !
SPEED is only the result of Horses being in proper class and distance !
a Slow Closing sprinter may be better suited in a longer race of 7 furlongs or a mile !
a horse that fades in long races should be running shorter distances or dropped in class or change his running style!
thats where your Jockeys become an important factor !
I do NOT want a gate hustling jockey the asks a horse for top speed in a long race , I rather prefer a patient jockey that will get his horse in to rail early and wait to make his move after the 1/2 !
ALSO people forget a sloppy track is nothing more than a WET fast Track !
This is when you will see front runners stay on the lead because the horses behind them are taken back by having water and mud kicked in their faces!
OK Buddy i think that covers everything , also go get the book by Tom Ainslie !
At the price i saw on the net thats a fucking steal !

try adding this play with what you have (cost is $48) :
key your selection in a parlay with 2 horses you handicap normally:
Race1 would be $2 exacta box #1 / #2 #3 & #2 #3 / #1 for example.
Anyway -- GL

JK = Just Kidding
What I meant was to use the horses you had listed in exactas (both 1st and 2nd) with 2 others in same race.
In race one you had the 1 horse... now pick what you think are next best. Say it was the 2 horse and the 5 horse. You bet an exacta key box. box the 1 with the 2 5.
If they finish 1 2 / 1 5 or 2 1 / 5 1 you win exacta.

using a key box gives you a chance to hit exacta with two other horses and is 4 exactas. Your main pick has to run 1st or 2nd with one of the others to win. $2 exacta cost is $8 $20 exacta cost is $80.

VERY Good GIANTROBOT at least you stayed with the system made money and now know it works !
YOU made my year Man really! I helped someone MAKE MONEY!
Best Tip I can Give you is never stop learning there is always someting new i learn every year!
Ever wonder why the #1 post in sprints, hardly wins in races with 9 or more entries ?
Unless that Horse has outstanding speed that can stay near lead or on lead most of the way he will be trapped inside by the faster horses running outside of Him and not be able to move !
THE rail is always the wosrt spot to be in most tracks in warm weather beacuse it softest and slowest spot on the track !
In Long races yes you want a horse within 7 post !
preferablly lightest weight of the field !
I agree with rickbrown on key boxing exactas also
I rarely play Exacta's and trifecta's only if i spot 4 horses that meet my handicapping criteria and the price is nice then yeah i'll take a shot !
Other Than That remember only 1 horse Wins the race except in a daed heat which happens about 1 out of 100 races or somewhere around that !

HEY G R been at the Local off track parlor my self past two days
yesterday Early i tried hollywood track which i was pretty familiar with
BUT because i was not playing it for a while i only had one winner
so went back bought another program for late night Trotters and Played Dover Downs
I Hit 7 races out of 15 plus a huge 20 -1 Shot
day before i played Free hold and was getting hammered but finally hit a longshot and two favorites later on card to turn a $200 profit
The Longshot was ridden by Andy Miller
i missed the first one he won and i liked him in 3rd race he Paid 27.80 to win
but caught that sweet 14 -1 shot he hit second time
THe Reason i lost at HollYwood Park was beacuse I didn't buy the Racing Form
the Progam has enough information if you know the track and play it reguarly
so next time i play the thourough breds I'm making sure that i have that Racing form
last night was sweet though i really hammered them the favs i bet to win only beacuse the price was too short
one was 1-5 and the jockey was doing nothing the whole card
so i took a longer shot to Place and show and that turned out better beacuse He Paid 7.40 to place and 3.20 to show which was way more than the winner who paid 2.20
heres the results i just found on the web
