the team in your play must have at least 1 win in their last three games AND the team they are playing against must have at least 1 loss in their last three games. Basically, you don't want to bet ON a team that's slumping, or against a team on a hot winning streak. Hope this helps

Ken,
Are you using top 20 ERA from each league or Sagarin NPERA. I see Richards (20th) and Bettis (18th) within the top 20 in ERA in their respected leagues. Using the rules from https://www.vegasinsider.com/mlb/story.cfm/story/571442/
should Pirates and Royals not be eliminated as plays? maybe I am missing something, only going off a sheet I built from last year, it does not use Sagarin.

Stoffo's rules for top 20 pitchers is Sagarin rating, not ERA. So Richards is 31 and Bettis is 21. Both plays if you are using Stoffo's rule of top 20 but against Col (Bettis) would not be a play if you are using Ken's top 30.
That's how I see it anyway.

Hey jj, I actually look at 4 or 5 different rankings (including Sagarin) and formulate an average pitcher ranking. There have been a few games that could have gone either way, at that point it's more or less a gut feeling. I have both of those pitchers ranked approx 35-40 overall....this is my first time running this system, and I think things will become clearer as the season moves along....any input is welcome, thanks and good luck.
