Calgary's front 3 (now employing the traditional 4-3 scheme) won't get anywhere near Pierce against one of the league's best o-lines which allowed the second fewest number of sacks, and opened huge holes for Joe Smith to rumble over 1,500 yards in 2007.   While Brandon Browner is "ok", but there is no way the Calgary secondary with guys like Dwight Anderson and Richard KariKari can stay with and contain Simon, Jackson, Clermont, and Rodgers, especially with little pressure upfront from the 4-3. If they drop their LB's back into coverage than BC will eat them alive with the run. They just don't have the talent defensively, let alone putting it together for the first game of the year. 

Let's put this into perspective... both teams played their starters for essentially the first 1/2 in their last pre-season game against each other a week ago. The Lions took a 22-10 lead into half with Pierce at 13/18, 184 yards, 2 TD's... when Jackson came in, he went 8/11, 126 yards, 2 TD's... Joe Smith 8/49 yards...while Simon, Clermont, and Jackson all had nice nights... the other consideration, Calgary defense has 0 sacks, 0 interceptions, and 0 forced fumbles while giving up 424 yards in total offense.

BC is a veteran team, with 9 returning all-stars... they'll be in sync from the first snap... Calgary, atleast on the defensive side of the ball, may need a few weeks!
