There is a new porcedure in place for wins over $10k at the lotto office. We got there at noon yesterday to collect and they investigate EVERY win over 10k.
What does this mean? They have 2 or 3 people who conduct 30 minute taped interviews. They want to know where you bought, what time of day, why you played, how you made the ticket blah blah blah.
They let you go and take another 15-30 minutes to do whatever they do as follow-up. The only thing missing from the process is a strip search. This applied to 649 winners and scratch tickets as there were 6 of us there for 5 hours! The process is a joke and accused criminals are treated better than we were. They force you to defend yourself because you won!
I ask that some of you phone to complain as this willhappen to you as well if you win. 2 kids who won 2nd prize in 649 (28 years old) were there since 10:30am and had to do multiple interviews before getting a chq at 4pm.
The process is a joke- sorry for the long message but as fellow players, complain before it happens to you.
