Van..
I know you said you have been to a lot of the world cups and was just curious which venue was your favorite?
In 1998, at St Ettiene - I met a Dutch girl that I almost gave up my life for. We spent about the next week together going to games and partying.
No soccer game can beat that.

Van -- since I'm a soccer betting newbie, I have a question for you or anyone more knowledgeable. Seeing as they have options for draws to bet on, does that mean a moneyline bet on a team that ends its game in a draw is graded as a loss? Or is it still a push?
If you bet on a 3 way line (where there is an option for win draw win) then you would lose if the game ends in a draw, unless you bet a draw.
If you bet on a handicap - like on the SA / Mexico game it is a PK -120 for Mex - and PK+100 for SA - a draw is a push.
In the knockout stages there are no draws in the game - but there will still be a 3 way line - and that 3 way line is for the first 90 mins only - not including OT or PK's. So you can bet a draw and win in knockouts - even though the game cannot finish in a draw.

Is the only future bet you have in with regards to the overall winner of the cup the Argentina bet you referenced earlier? Is it normal for you to only pick one team in terms of a future like that?

I was in St Etienne in 98 for England v Argentina
Stayed in a right dodgy campsite but we sang and danced the whole night before the game.
Out on bloody pens again.

Honestly - when you are betting in to a market like this - with 32 teams - the house hold is a little higher than I like to bet in to. So if you add a 2nd or 3rd team in to the mix where only one can win - your odds get demolished. For instance, the second pick I had to win was the Netherlands - and at 11-1, and Argentina at 7-1, if I bet them both I was getting about 4-1 for either to win. That just wasnt attractive enough to me.
But..... If I were to bet more teams to win, CONSIDERING THEIR ODDS (not their real chances to win - in other words Im not saying the Dutch have a better chance to win than Spain - Im saying at 10-1 vs 4-1 I would rather BET the Dutch) - here is the order I would bet....
2. Netherlands 10-1
3. Spain 4-1
4. Brazil 5-1
5. Italy 18-1
6. Germany 13-1
7. Portugal 30-1
8. England 7-1
9. France 20-1
Nobody else can win.

You can safely take out Portugal, and England from that list. England are a horrid team. They have won it once and will not win it again until they host it again. I love how there fans have these completely unrealistic hopes for the team. When the tough questins get asked, England NEVER have the answer. Portugal too have NEVER delivered on the stage and probably never will.

Oh and Van your missing the Argies, they have the talent to win, with a better manager they would be half the price they are at right now...
Notice my list starts at #2? ![]()
If Portugal was at 10-1, they wouldnt be on my list - but at 30-1 they make the list.

Van -- that makes sense. I ended up going with Netherlands (value) and then Argentina and Brazil (the Southern Hemisphere angle).
Then quite simply you will make money...great bets

off topic for one post, please excuse me...
I see you use the Greek as one of your books (as I do). I can only assume you do not use 5dimes, which has consistently better soccer prices, because of unrelated issues such as poor customer service or difficulty in payouts?
Thanks for entertaining my question![]()

I carefully evaluate books - and they have to hit certain criteria. 5Dimes doesnt work for me mostly because of limits, and personal limits there. I am collared down to a ridiculously low amount. But they are a good choice for a lot of people.

Kapono, they should also have prices on the match entitled "to advance", which basically includes any extra time or penalty kicks...

thanks vanzack...i hear you...
I remember you talking about that several years ago (i believe when Matchbook was new to the market) when said you were speaking with management to have certain limits.

Thanks Van! I use sportsbetting and don't get many, if any, good prop bets such as the ones you are betting on.
The lines are the last thing I would worry about at a crappy book like sportsbetting.
