First homeboy with the orange toupee calls the fifa boss to lift the red card then 3 unanswered goals in 13 mins by Argentina to send Egypt packing.. because god forbid the golden boy doesn’t go to the final again.

I don’t like penaldo either I think he’s a selfish prick and am glad he went out in tears.. after watching his little retirement speech nothing more screamed from him saying “me me me and me”

Yeah that’s FIFA for you. Have to win and leave no margin for refs/VAR to carry Argentina through. They will likely make the finals again nobody standing on that side of the bracket is good enough to beat them + refs

Egypt shouldn't of been up in the first place. HOW TO RIG
A GAME with 3 goals in 13 minutes
you know what had
to happen to score those 3 goals like that.

Its pretty gross to watch when you can tell what side the refs are leaning. If you dont call a foul live when you are watching, then let them play on.....you can't (shouldn't) be able to go back and say nah.....Obviously Egypt choked the last 15 minutes of regulation....they decided to sit back and try and defend.....which was a terrible gameplan.

So you think the officiating was fair and balanced in that game? Egypt choked but Argentina has the refs in their pocket.

@CaseyMcGehee
Facts man, it doesn’t matter what side you bet. Just call it like it is @brooklyncapper The money to be lost by FIFA if Argentina lost would be monumental. Yes, Egypt’s game plan when up was abysmal at best, but let’s not say the officiating was fair.

overturning that egypt goal was nonsense when argentina scored the same way after committing a foul vs austria and it wasnt reviewed. i mean how can they go that far back to review a goal? even the announcer was saying it happened too far back. this is not why VAR was created. but it is another way for fifa to influence the game. rigged? no. manipulateed? certainly. even look at infantinos reaction when egypt score the 2nd goal he and the guy next to him were sad. 8 penalties in the last 12 games? i mean cmon the favoritism is obvious

I'm ok with it being 2 to 2 however were there not 2 fouls in the box at the other end prior to the 3rd goal on Argentina. I noticed that the feed I was watching, the announcers didn't talk about it or show replays and even the panel on TSN seemed to not address it as well. They only showed the run up to the 3rd goal but didn't show how the whole play developed. In real time it looked like a foul inside the box towards the top on Argentina and the Egypt player going for the header in front of the goal also got sandwiched. Did I miss something? Can anyone shed light into this? It's like the media was told not to talk about it. That's why the Egypt bench was livid after the 3rd goal and that one coach got a red card.

Lol 100%. Egypt failed so hard. They should be ashamed of themselves.

You don't know soccer at all then. If a player is fouled that impacts
the play going forward it will not be a goal. Learn the rules.
Egypt did nothing the whole game except get a couple of rushes.
They deserved to lose!

The soccer gods blessed us with the win. That was some controversial officiating, luck, and bad Egypt play. You and everyone was sweating.

@Brooklyncapper
my brother argentina did the exact ssame thing vs austria, no difference, they didnt overturn the goal heck they didnt even review it. that is the issue. it is selective use aka use whenever messi needs it.

sSo ok you know a lot about futbol well let's see some facts...
VAR is there to correct clear and obvious errors, but consistency is what frustrates fans.
There have been many matches where goals were allowed even though there had been contact or possible fouls earlier in the build-up because the referee judged the contact wasn't enough to overturn the decision. In this case, the question isn't whether there was contact; it’s whether the intervention was applied consistently.
For example, in the Argentina vs. Egypt match, before Argentina's third goal there was an incident involving Salah near Argentina's penalty area that many viewers believed deserved a closer review. VAR did not recommend an on field review, and play continued. If that incident wasn't considered worthy of intervention, it's reasonable to ask why this one was.
The issue isn't supporting one team or another; it's expecting the same standard to be applied to every team and every match. That's what fans are asking for: consistency.

Was at work so didn't get to watch the final part of the game.
Egypt's goalie is kinda sus. Just stood there and watched the losing goal, thinking it'd sail wide. Absolutely 0 effort from him
I had Egypt +1.5
