Say what you want about soccer, but the highest paid athletes of any sport in the world show the soccer athletes hold

3 of the top 5 spots. In fact, Messi is the highest paid athlete of all in 2022. You speak of USA athletes and they not 

wanting to waste their time with being a soccer athlete but the truth is that soccer is the number one sport worldwide

and that will never change. USA has multiple sports that it offers while most other countries only have soccer. This is

why there is little interest in soccer in the USA. It's not because athletes like Lebron or Stephen could care less about

soccer because it's boring, it's because they made a choice to play another sport instead. In life we all make choices. Some

choose to play football or basketball because there is big money to be earned in those sports here in the USA. This is not

the case in other parts of the world. Very narrow minded to put down soccer because one grows up in a country that offers

multiple sports to be successful in. Boring or not (in the eye of the beholder) soccer is the number one sport in the world and will

always continue to be so, so keep hating on it. A lot of athletes are in it for the sport, but most are in it to make money. It's the

profession they chose. It's their livelyhood. It's how they support themselves and their family. Let's face it, any American athlete is

looking for that payday. You see it all the time (Lebron's decision live on ESPN...joke). In a lot of case the athlete is greedy and it is not

always about the sport. In taking a look at that list below, I'd say that Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo made a good choice to become 

soccer athletes. Put the money where your mouth is. Below is the Forbes list for 2022 for highest paid athletes.
