This is more of a discussion than anything else.
In my years of betting I have found that every once in a while an event will come around that bettors can exploit to make some serious money. I don't know when the next one is, but in my experience when sporting associations launch a modified tournament, or modified pre-season structure, or introduce a new rule is when Books have no information to go off and as such their lines are all over the place. But you need to catch it as it happens, here's a little story.
A few months ago the Australian Netball Association had what I believed to be a pre-season event with the following rule changes:
- Two halves rather than four quarters
- A marked zone further out from the goal where, if a player scored from within this area, it would count as 3 goals instead of 1. (this is the big factor)
As a result, the majority of teams were doing their best to shoot from the 3-goal area and as such, Total Goals were quite high, but the Books had no idea what to the totals at. After watching the first 3 games, all went well over 50 goals, some hit the 60's. But the Books had no reacted and their lines for the next 6-8 games were all around 35.5 - 36.5. I put together a parlay of all the games to go over and managed to turn $500 into 12K without barely raising a sweat. All games hit the over with over a quarter of the game still remaining.
I'm not here to gloat or preach, but keep an eye our for these opportunities. They are a gold mine when they come around.
