Super rugby round 6

Keeping my head above water in Super rugby (despite a late night stupid drunken bet on Blues last week) and a few nice favourites this round.

I'll kick off with the Tahs Friday night. No surprise to see the Brumbies get the win last weekend but Rebels certainly aren't in Brumbies class. Cheika was not a happy chappy last week and will have the Tahs primed to strike back. My take on the Tahs is to back them ats against ordinary sides as they have the firepower to rack up a lot of points and stay away from them against the stronger sides. I really can't see Rebels staying within 13.5.

On Saturday night I like the Brumbies v Stormers. Canberra is a tough place to play and Brumbies are a very solid outfit. That was a terrific win last week especially considering the 2 sinbins. Forwards will hold their own and the backline is much better than most. Nic White varies things up with his kicking game, Toomua rarely makes mistakes, Kuridrani can bust any line, Mogg can be a matchwinner, McCabe is solid as a rock and I've been impressed by that woolly haired winger (don't know his name). I am jumping on the -6.5 early @ $1.90 as I don't expect this to last.

Third of the "good things" looks to be Chiefs over Force. Force have played in patches and at times have looked good but they will still need to improve, plus play for 80 minutes, if they are to hang with the Champs. I don't think it's likely and the back and forth to NZ won't have helped them. Chiefs should cover the 9.5.

The remaining 4 games hold no appeal to me as betting propositions.

That woolly haired winger is Henry Speight and he's out for 6 weeks. I actually have a feeling the stormers can win this game assuming Peter Grant starts at 10

Yeah Speight - thanks Davo. Well there are no certainties but underrate Brumbies at your peril. 

haven't been overly impressed with what i've seen from them so far, they were good against the tahs but once the tahs decided to toughen up they were making all the play. Stormers looked very good against the Chiefs when they brought on Grant, Kolisi and Carr. Can see the Stormers putting in a monster effort with their last game on tour and can see the Brumbies coming out a bit flat after a very physical game in which they got dominated during the last 20.

I think landers/canes over, blues/cheetahs over are automatic plays. I like the reds to win 30+ against the lions.

Davo - far be it from me to try to sway you but remember the Brumbies played with 14 men that last 20 minutes against Tahs.

I haven't got any numbers on those O/U's yet but looks to be plenty of points, particularly Blues/Cheetahs game. Canes and Highlanders both very unpredictable.

I'm not interested in touching Reds giving a start in SA and I'm a little surprised they're favourites in this one.

Reds are bet of the weekend for me, watched the lions/blues game, blues were half asleep for 60 minutes and when they finally woke up they made it look like a training run. Their discipline in that game was absolutely horrible, as long as the reds execute it will be a hiding, I'll be on the 13+ and an alt line in the 20's, lions are going to cop it very soon, much like the kings last season
