Super rugby round 5

Really tough looking round. The game I liked was Highlanders to beat Force but I wasn't expecting to have to give that many points. I also think Canes should cover the 6.5 but I hate backing them. Sharks will probably cover the 7.5 but they're in to $1.80. No thoughts at this stage on the others but looking forward to the Brumbies/Tahs game. Tahs have the best side in the comp but Brumbies will be itching to knock them off their pedestal and are very hard to beat at home.

Despite my near refusal to back them as favourites the Canes are appealing as the pick of the round. 

As always I am interested in others thoughts.

Calm down snake. I didn't say they WERE the best side but I think they HAVE the best side, at least on paper. Means jacksh*t if they don't put it together on the paddock and season after season they disappoint. Fact is I haven't backed them yet this season and won't be this weekend.

Never suggested Canes were your team. You backed them last week and I was wondering whether you are going to back them this week. They are a bad team to bet on, so unreliable, but I see them as the pick of the round.

GL with the Chiefs this round and for the season. They've been my "2nd team" since commencement of  super rugby so I certainly don't begrudge them their 2 championships. As long as they aren't playing the Tahs in the GF I'll be cheering them.

Got out of Friday night unscathed with the Dockers covering the Cowboys loss. It goes against my grain but I'm on Canes -6.5 v Cheetahs. After 3 losses I expect Hammett to loosen the shackles and send the boys out to "just play". Being Conrad Smith's 100th should also bring a little extra desire from the side and if they are on song they will be too hot for Cheetahs.

Not touching the Tahs game for a swag of reasons. While Tahs have the better side the Brumbies are very solid and the home side has won something like the last 5 clashes. These games have become real local derbies  (rivalling Tahs/Reds) which often overrules form and there is a bit more spite this time around after the last Wallabies tour. On top of that you have Jesse Mogg who is the greatest headcase in Australian rugby. He can be an absolute matchwinner  but if he drops the 1st ball you might as well pull him off the paddock because he won't be worth a guy. I think and hope Tahs win but there are too many variables to slap the cash down.
