Super rugby rd 1

Well here we go again, hoping to continue the success of previous seasons.

To be honest there's a host of games I like but obviously got to be a bit wary at start of season. Many of the games have unknown factors and it will come as no surprise to those that have followed me that I am making Brumbies my first play. Despite losing last season's centre pairing, the Canes remain very dangerous, evidenced by the cricket score they ran up against Crusaders and can't be dismissed lightly. Brumbies however, always kick off the season fit and raring to go and with their settled side and a huge home ground advantage, I expect them to prove too good. I'm hoping for more attacking flare than they showed last season but regardless their excellent defence and discipline will stand them in good stead. Conrad Smith's defensive positional play was magnificent as was his general reading of the game and obviously Nonu's blockbusting charges will be missed. It may take a game or two for the midfield to settle in. Dane Coles appears unlikely to play which can only advantage the home side.

My book currently has Brumbies -5.5 @ $1.90, which I'll take if I have to but is not the best offer available (I see -4.5 elsewhere) so I'll hold off at the moment and hope for a little better.

Bet365 offering Brumbies at -4....was reading review of Super Rugby
teams and they mentioned that Hurricanes lost 4 of their most experienced players....
Also got a question...Is the Lions team the same Lions from  Currie Cup action???

Only scrumhalf Faf de Klerk and flyhalf Elton Jantjies didn't play Currie Cup for the Golden Lions last season. The rest of Team is the same.

That's why I think they'll surprise us this season. The backline is a lil bit meh but I love their forward pack. Great scrum and Jaco Kriel and Warren Whiteley are both animals and should start for the springboks.

There are teams to be very wary about betting against in this comp and I put Lions in that category.

The last few comps (SR, ITM & RWC) have all been profitable where I have hit around 75% at better than $1.90 average price. Not bragging, just stating fact.

This year I've decided to post ongoing results to help others decide whether to tail, fade or ignore my tips. I will post ongoing W-L record, streak record and $ +/-. I will use $100 as the betting unit in determining dollars won or lost and will use the odds and price that I actually bet at (not best available). If it's of any interest my bets are placed on NSW TAB.

As in previous seasons I will normally suggest only one bet per round although may occasionally add another if the 1st bet has won. Normal outlay will be $100 per game but may be up to max $200 if I really like the odds on offer.

Hope I haven't put the mocker on myself but if so then at least others may benefit from fading me.

Here's hoping everyone on this forum has a profitable season.

By the way Brumbies have gone to -4.5 but at $1.85. Haven't placed my bet yet but will post the actual before kick-off.

I'm tipping the canes head to head tonight. Snatched them at 2.75, which I believe presents some great value.
