I don't know that the NRC is the most reliable comp as far as a gambling proposition is concerned and my betting on these games is sporadic and generally small. Unpredictable results abound and I lost (albeit small) on this comp last year and am 0 from 1 on this season's comp. That being said I am dipping into my pocket on tonight's game.
Rays caused a major upset last round, comfortably defeating Perth (who surprised me with their strong performance in rd 1) over there. On the other hand Melbourne were comfortably handled at home by Brisbane, who are again the side to beat this season.
If this game were being played last week the Rays would be getting perhaps 15.5 start against Melbourne. Melbourne's form doesn't concern me as Brisbane can be very good but I must admit I'm confounded by the Rays result. My feeling is that Rising are at least a 2 try better outfit than Rays and the last round results are tossing us a spread that is too good not to hammer.
Can't go overboard on this unpredictable comp but tonight's bet is larger than average.
Rising -6.5 @ $1.87 for me.

Such a bad loss, unlucky dude. Good way to look at it is there is more chance than that happening for you next time than against you, but still, I'm sure you will bounce back and have a fine season.
