Greetings and salutations my friends and even my foes.....Today we are going to break down the games in my school of thought class today........Lets start of with sending my positive energy to you all and wishing you all the best no matter what part of the world you are reading this in........In game 1 for this Saturday's 3 game trilogy we have teams headed in 2 polar opposite directions...
MELBOURNE STORM vs Newcastle Knights
I cannot bring myself to type the Knights name in capital letters as they are not a capital team.....On paper you might be fooled into thinking by having 2 halves that have played at origin level they might be a chance to pull of some good results this year......unfortunately for the team it takes 15 other players plus a coach and a whole lot of supporting staff.....I look at Newcastles forward pack and say WHO??? Other than an battle weary old school Jeremy Smith who has seen his better days I question there ability to even threaten your local under 16 side.....They go missing in defence once fatigue hits in and struggle to gain any sort of metres in attack....How could Hodgo or Mullen possibly even enter factoring into a game without the support of there big men muscling it out for them up front...Also there backline leaves much to be desired, Dane gaigai is a talented player with and unfortunate last name. However I would hardly throw any chickens on him been my go to guy on attack for ball running or kicking options for my halves...Imo he is better suited at fullback but with Nathan Browns lack of options we see a very under strengthed Newcastle side. It's a shame cause back in its glory days with Joey Johns at the realms that place was rocking every time a whistle blew for kickoff in Newcastle......Now I would imagine they all go run and hide and come up with more excuses than naughty school boys trying to get out of homework, not to watch the game......It must be heartbreaking for them to witness this all, what a fall from grace and Tinkler just seemed to be the iceberg that sunk the titanic...
Then we have the MELBOURNE STORM. A team coached like a well oiled machine with the tools and gadgets to adjust giving whatever project they have at the time... Between Bellamy, Smith & Cronk we would have a combined rugby league IQ that would rival any 3 personal from any team in the competition....I would love to be a fly on the wall for some of there conversations.....And there ability to adapt every year to the new age is an achievement in itself....There forward pack is young, educated and primed for every battle and know there job they need to accomplish to get the likes of smith and Cronk going forward with the football... They are a clinical team so they could beat this Knights team by 30-40 if they really wanted to make a statement and had there popper backline....I see absolutely nothing that makes me believe the Storm won't cover any line the bookies set..... I haven't even looked but I would imagine it been at -17.5 or -18.5....... And i just checked and it's at -14.5..... Either the bookies are smoking crack or there tryna give you the first game easy so you can throw it all away on games 2 & 3. Lol. But seriously -14.5 is a joke. 3 tries will be no problem covering imo giving all the information my brain has processed over the last 4 weeks of this season. The only concern been the missing players of Curtis Scott and flying Marika Korebite who are out with injury and suspension... The Knights will target that as it can be the only thing seen as a weakness in this Melbourne side....Also this game is in Auckland. Atm is overcast but come game time it could be rain.....This all depends on how well Melbourne can gel these new back combo they have but I would think King Bellamy would have his troops well groomed........Mentally from a Knights perspective they have nothing to lose, but there trip away to play in New Zealand and not in Australia could just be an extra road block in the mind to making this a ball game.....Maybe just Maybe Newcastle will put together 30 mins of decent footy but my money will be on the Clinical Storm to cover -14.5......(If it wasn't for the Scott, Koribete factor I would be loading up).......
Just some quick basic thoughts my brothers and sisters....I thought I'd start posting my picks, plays and thoughts with you for a while. Free information is obviously hard to come by these days so any work I do on here will be if I have the time to be able to......Any thoughts or questions feel free to ask me.........I may do a little write up for the Tigers vs Sharks game, but for them moment I'm goin to boil the kettle and have a ciggie.....Goodluck
TIP: MELBOUNRE STORM -14.5 @ 1.90
