Ugh admittedly I don't know the sport but I heard the announcer say unfortunately for the player it was going to be after the horn. So I thought they had to kick it through to get the points ugh

I know this won't change the score, but I had to look this up. I watched the entire game and figured I understood it. At the end of the game with about 8 seconds left the guy kicked it to the guy inside of the 50 area. He had the ball in his hands and twirling it when the horn/siren sounded. The announcer was saying as he was getting off the ground that it was likely too late. Now what I gathered watching the game is they had to kick it through the goalpost to get 6 and if it went behind they got a single point. If he had the ball in his hands at the horn, does he get to finish his try even if it's after the horn?
