Aaron Smith and Manawatu

Been good to me most of the season. The NZ public and media have been pumping Cruden up the arse. But equally important for mine Aaron Smith. He's been super impressive for 3 seasons now.

Fast clearence and fast and pass, very good running game. Solid enough defender and a great kicking game.

Tough to single out players still. Its been a real team effort.

That is true. But Smith has already been impressive at S15 and international level (for the NZ Maori's).

He's only 23. If he keeps working hard and can stay away from injury (In one of the most injury prone sports on the planet). His future in rugby is very bright.

and he makes the AB training squad of 36. Squad to be cut to 30 to prepare for Ireland.

To show the rugby riches we still have despite so many players going offshore. TJ Perenara who has also been hugely impressive at halfback, can't make the training squad.

The main aspect that concerns me about Smith is his size, it bucks the trend of AB halfbacks in recent times they have mostly been like a forth loose forward.

Other than that he has alot going for him.

Fingers crossed he avoids much injury, he could very well be something special for a long time. Would love to see that.
